The woman who read out the news of Paul Newman's death on one of the TV channels looked at the camera and said, 'I'm going to miss that beautiful face'. What makes Newman so special is that he was beautiful on the outside and the inside. That's why he stayed beautiful as he aged- 'After forty you get the face you deserve' as the saying goes. He represented everything good about America: idealism, aspiration, empathy for those less fortunate, dislike of humbug, a belief in decency. Now, if you could get a President like him...here's hoping.
