It's about time someone wrote an article not declaring Palin an obvious "winner." When I saw the debate last night, I thought for sure I would go on the news websites this morning and see news writers echoing my thoughts on the debate. I couldn't believe what I read instead.
It's a shame that her standards were set so low that people are actually considering this a victory for her last night. I'll admit she didn't give the nonsensical comments she's become infamous for after just two interviews. But, she still managed to make herself look completely icompetent as a candidate for second in command.
There are only two things that I got out of the debate that a McCain White House would provide: endless war in Iraq and healthcare taxes. They have yet to offer any real plan for change, and have yet to offer any specifics on what their ticket would provide the American people. Other than, "drill, baby, drill" of course. And by the way Gov. Palin -- that's not a cry I've heard from anyone living in my Virginia community.
Her "aww, shucks" approach to the debate left me exasperated. Not only did she outright refuse to answer the questions so she could recite what the McCain camp I'm sure had her memorize while she was holed up in Arizona, but when she smirked and smiled through every answer it made me scream, "take this seriously!!" at the tv. Our country is in a crisis -- not just overseas, but this time right here at home, and she kept winking at the tv like it was a beauty pageant or a joke. Well maybe I'm alone in this -- but I don't find the economy or our national security a joke, and it would have been nice to see Gov. Palin take these two issues seriously. Then again, I would have been happy if she appeared to take anything seriously.
