Note to dems, you should have picked Biden
by evensteven

As a republican, I can honestly say that while Palin did well last night, Biden showed me what I have said all along, you have the wrong guy at the top of the ticket.

Obama is nothing short of an empty suit compared to a polished gentleman and experienced person. Far more so than Obama, HANDS DOWN.

So, when you vote, just remember that you have a great V.P. candidate, but, a lightweight for president VS. McCain for the Presidency.

Good job last night, Joe.

That's what my wife and I thought, that Biden looked and talked the most Presidential of the lot of them.

You might be right. I wonder how much Biden's unfortunate comment about Obama before the primaries hurt his chances and his popularity. Of course, it was going to be tough to compete with Obama's 'buzz' and charisma no matter what.

That being said, I still can't figure out how McCain won the Republican nomination either. I thought it should have been Romney.

The problem in the primary was that the Dem field was too good, we had three "stars"; Hillary, Obama, and Edwards. That split the vote so much that it skewed other candidates support. Frankly, Biden WAS my pick initially. So naturally, I was thrilled that he was the VP pick. For me, the Obama/Biden ticket is the most exciting I have seen in years. It's the marriage of a 21st century visionary and a seasoned, well-respected diplomat, both brilliant in their own ways.

Please stay on the party talking points. Obama isn't a "visionary." Obama is a deity. No need to grovel; He graciously forgives your impertinence.

I feel bad about it, but I'll agree with this as well. Biden did come off wonderfully presidential.
I think perhaps the reason that he seems more so than Obama right now isn't really his ability to answer the questions or make a sound policy judgment - I think Biden and Obama are equals in that realm - but in his demeanor. He's a man of the people, and Obama, though he considers the difficulties of the middle class and seems to work very hard to make sure those needs are a part of all of his policies, is not a part of that world.

I think it's a mistake to label him 'elitist', but not at all to call him academic. But frankly, I think that careful judgment on each issue does not require having actually been through each situation the middle class has been in for the last decade. I think it requires the depth of thought and yes, the academic insight, to take the information, the stories, the experiences of those people and to craft a policy that considers their needs.

I think Biden's going to work his tail off to make himself heard in the White House when he thinks he has a story about the middle class that needs Obama's attention. And damned if I don't think this president might actually listen.

I think we got the ticket the right way around. Biden might have been able to be president himself, but really, would we want to think anything less of our vice president, than that he too could run the nation if need be?

She believes that humans and dinosaurs "walked the earth together" 6000 years ago. Maybe McCain told her stories about the pet velociraptor he had as a kid.

As for Biden, if he had performed as well in last night's debate in the primary debates, he might have gone further.

Of course, if the McCain campaign gets any more unhinged, the republicans are going start wishing they went with Mittens.

Albeit a very aged and decrepit one. He certainly seems to have the temperament of a velociraptor, as many other Senators would be happy to attest.

You guys ALL misse my point.

I was illustrating just how much of a neophyte Obama is compared to BOTH Biden and McCain.

When are all going to understand that the office of the Presidency is NOT a popularity contest! This position is for the next leader of the free world and Obama, unlike either Biden or McCain is ridiculously unqualified.

Maybe, it's because there has been so much centered on Palin being picked as McCain's V.P. choice, but, in every election that I have voted for, some 30 years now, my first and foremost priorty before I stepped into that booth was, "who is on the the top of the ticket". Did you honestly vote for Bill Clinton because Al Gore was his V.P.???

And if you're voting for Obama because he can inspire people by making a nice speech, your all fools.

Just out of curiosity

Who said that was their reason for voting for Obama?

Ok, I'll bite..

Not going to answer my question?

Could it be because Obama sucks as a choice for the office and you guys fucked up on the pick?
