Obama's issue
by Ripley

"issue of the moment is the economy, and that's Obama's issue. That's why Obama is ahead in the national polls and now ahead in a score of battleground states."

But WHY is it Obama's issue? Where is HIS economic experience and expertise? He's as little informed on the economy as McCain is, and all three Senators voted for this Wall Street bailout bill, after loading it down with "sweeteners" that had nothing to do with the economy. One thing NOBODY can talk about now is deficit spending, since they are all guilty of that. Since they all voted the same, I don't see how this is Obama's issue.

Couldn't agree more. Right now, this is tee'd up for McCain if the bill passes in the HR today, and here's why: If you look at the tax breaks for the businesses that are riding along in the "new and improved" bill which, presumably, have been attached to get support in improving the odds of passing, many of them fall into the category of income that Obama says would get taxed more if he's elected, not less. Well, if the members of the senate support this move of taxing that "class" less, and Obama votes for it, isn't he voting against his own policy that he says will fix the economy? He's boxed in.
