Palin's Accent
by maximize
Now why in the world would you even consider publishing such an article? What it will be next? Why Obama doesn't speak the Black street language? Why he speaks in whole sentences? Come on, give us a break!

I'm sorry, but when you are running for vice presidency, everything is going to be scrutinized. Her unprofessional use of "don't cha", "bet cha", etc is appalling. I want a vice president who acts and TALKS like an educated person. It's so pathetic it's almost humorous! I'm from Wisconsin and her slaughter of English is way beyond the Up Nort dialect in this state!

This is rich. You find Sarah Palin's speech substandard, and say she sounds uneducated?

How about the candidate for president's wife that uses slang. "People been talking about elistism and alla dat. (I think the meaning is "All of that"). Let me tell you about me and Barack, so you won't be confuse". (the error of past tense was not mine; it was omitted). Additionally, we learned in early grade school to form the "I, me, my rules". "Me and Barack". Great grammar. "Yeah, I went to Princeton. I went to Harvard". Listen to this great orator. "Michelle seethes with anger", on Youtube. You will see affirmative action in action. No wonder she didn't pass the bar the first time. I dare you to watch that video & come back and talk about Sarah Palin. You won't after hearing Michelle Obama speak.

Michelle Obama is not seeking the office of the vice-presidency. If the republican ticket is elected, Sarah Palin could possibly, no probably, be our representative to the rest of the world. If we are not impressed by her intellect and political saavy, do you think other world leaders will be? She was a big fish in her little pond in Alaska, but she's in the big wide ocean now full of real big fish with teeth.

Wisco: I strongly agree.

All considerations of politics, ideology and character aside, it is possible to sound regional but not uneducated. Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Strom Thurmond prove this. Thurmond may have sounded like he had been educated in the 19th century, but educated none the less.

Actually I must let you know that the sentence you mention is actually grammatically correct. In "Let me tell you about me and Barack..." You would never say "Let me tell you about I..." She is an elegant woman and was educated better than I.
