I, too, am finding it difficult to subscribe to a particular "camp" in light of today's political climate. The pendulum tends to swing to both extremes; either anti-abortionists are bombing clinics, or biotechnology companies are falsifying data. I believe in the importance of a "balanced" society; one where both prince and pauper have the opportunity to live free of exploitation. My sensibilities are often offended by the arrogance of the ruling class, who think that they know what's best for me. They don't. Not politicians, not scientists, not biotechnology companies. Arrogance, ignorance, and apathy are our greatest weaknesses, and will do us in unless we turn the tide. What's rational and what's legal are not always what's right. Compassion, community, and a sense of fair play should be the "human" elements that will guide us into the next century - not greed, elitism, or political pandering.
