Play bridge. (If I could find a foursome. :-)

In my younger days, I would have said "screw".

Is there going to be sex in Heaven?

If so, what about conception?

If so, hard labor -- or will our wives lay Golden Easter Eggs?

I would attempt to come up with an even halfway intelligible explanation of the Trinity as a Monotheistic belief system that did not boil down to “Trust Me” with “Because I Said So” as the fallback position.

Screwing with your wife for all eternity? Shit, are we talking about heaven or hell here??? ;-)

Well . . .

If I get to spend eternity HERE, I have some thoughts:

1) Learn enough languages to read all my favorite works in their original tongues.

2) Watch the entire filmographies of my favorite cinematicians.

3) Learn every martial art. That's right, all of 'em.

4) Tattoo over 60% of the surface of my skin.

5) Learn to play bass. Well, that's cheap; I might do that anyway. Learn to play synthesizer. Or learn about electronics, studio technology, etc. Become a music-maker.

6) Study all systems of erotic metaphysic (especially popular in the East, per the Kama Sutra, but also found in much [G/g]nostic and Hermetic literature).

7) Meditate for days at a time.

8) Sleep. It's something I love to do and don't do nearly enough.

9) Take up kayaking.

10) Sing every day.

11) Learn to grow my own.

12) Be less afraid of fucking up. After all, I'd have eternity to fix anything.

Heh heh heh...

I guess that all depends on your wife?

Hang out with Homer, Virgil, and the other virtuous pagans in Limbo.

I'd be all "Yo, Aristotle, WAZZZZUP!!!!" and Aristotle would be talking all this gibberish in Greek and I'd be all "Speak English, bro!"

That's what I'd do.

Your answer is better than mine. I suppose I'd do the following:

1. Learn to read and speak several languages fluently, including, but not limited to, Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, ancient Greek, and Latin

2. Read all those books I haven't read yet, in their original languages

3. Same as (2), but watching movies

4. Learn one martial art

5. Travel everywhere, including Antarctica

6. And so on

One question, hound. Regarding this one:

2) Watch the entire filmographies of my favorite cinematicians.

Even Alphaville?

(I kid, I kid: Alphaville has its charms. But, after watching Breathless, Contempt, and Alphaville in the last couple months, I think I'm done with Godard for the near future.)

Alphaville was a chore . . .

. . . if not an entirely unrewarding one. But don't give up on Godard before watching Band a Part (Band of Outsiders), which is as fun as he gets. Really.

That said, I don't know if I'd call Godard a favorite; his importance can't be ignored, and I'd probably like to see all his films if I DID have all eternity to do it (I mean, what would I have to lose?), but I may be done with him myself in this mortal coil, at least for a while.

Just thought of another one, in keeping with the theme:

Read all those books I've claimed to read, or even convinced myself that I have read, but really haven't. :)

Yes, Alphaville had its good points. Any movie with a computer quoting Borges can't be all bad.

Read all those books I've claimed to read, or even convinced myself that I have read, but really haven't. :)

That's a great idea! Too often, I hold forth on my opinion of Nietzsche, even though I don't think I've actually read an entire book of his. If I have, it was over ten years ago.

11) Learn to grow my own.

I don't think you actually have to learn that. If you throw your seeds into the potted plants, they just sprout and grow on their own (of course, your spouse, who threw the seeds there in the first place, then rips out your potted plant in order for the pot to have more room to grow).
