Waiting for McCain to reinstate his Campaign
by Camille Claudel
+2/-3 Reply

So is the debate back on?

Did suspending his campaign make McCain look like:

a) a man of action?

b) an overexcited, over-reacting fool?

c) a political manipulator when politicians should be putting the manipulations to the side?

Really, cancelling Letterman - well who cares? But suspending the campaign and cancelling the debate - using this kind of alarmist language wasn't exactly the kind of calming assured influence needed at this time.

I'm willing to think highly enough of McCain to hope this wasn't a case of political manipulation - hoping to paint Obama in a corner. But given this willingness, I'm left with the uncomfortable view that his actions were over-the-top and only served to add to the level of uncertainty to the markets and to the American people.

This wasn't the time to pull out your sabre and charge. This is something someone like Ronald Reagan understood well. He knew how to be a calming influence; how to settle things down as issues were worked on. McCain has shown us his game here, and I'm not liking what I've seen.

me neither and I'm beginning to think McCain may be a politician or something.

This could be a political play perhaps even a political PLAY COMBINED WITH FULFILLING THE DUTIES OF HIS OFFICE AS SENATOR, PERHAPS..BUT A POLITICAL PLAY NO LESS!.

The horrors!!!!

When will these guys running for Prseident of the Free World realize what we really want is to them to just stick to playing Jesus, Santa Claus and daddy?
Damn! he should take a cue of Obama..he knows what we really want.

All Americans (at least the bots) want is to just for them to tell us it's all okay while they keep robbing us blind behind closed doors. yep..that's what we really want.

and Obama fills that role much better.

Don't even think about going back to D.C when the country is in crisis and doing your job lest you called a politician.

There's three issues
by ducadmo

Should he have come back to Washington? Yes. Definitely. Didn't need the fanfare, but as my senator, he should be engaged in this very important decision. So should Obama. They both have influence and can help move things along.

Did he need to suspend his campaign? He didn't. Cancel ads? What for? Grandstanding. Pure and simple.

Should the debates be delayed? Congress is going to pass some sort of bill. He can show up for a debate. This is the the most telling feature. America, may we introduce to you Arizona's premier Drama Queen. He's not a maverick, he's just gets jealous when he's not in the spotlight and he will always find a way to get under it.

so you're saying he

was grandstanding - playing politics.

Possible. This wasn't the time, though, for grandstanding, and I feel you are getting this free glimpse into what a McCain presidency would be like here - and it's not good.

How will you be able to tell when he reinstates it?
He Should Be Able To Announce It This Afternoon

As the bipartisan group has come up with a package. <link> Poor John didn't even get to show up for the photo-op. Such is life.
I linked to that in my top post.

That was my point. He's overreacted and that was the wrong reaction with the markets so nervous. He's showed us something about him here, even if we are willing to consider that he wasn't grandstanding. He's showed us that he's going to provide nervous, jumpy leadership. He's showed us he doesn't understand the psychology of the situation.

lol. okay that got me laughing.

It was a bad post.. and yeah,..Camille he's grandstanding of course..but nothing wrong with that if he is also doing his job.

Obama on the other hand comes off like Daddy at Christmas.....as if he could change everything and the world will be at one and at peace instantly whenever he appears before them. It's bull.

Most people know it.

If by "most" you mean less than half.
if he is grandstanding,

that's a sad commentary.

The question
by biteoftheweek

one should always ask to these actions is: Who benefits?

I doubt the answer will be "The American People"

Re: if he is grandstanding,

sigh..even I will admit it puts him in a position to have the grandstanding label placed on him. And I know that can be a probem for him..potentially.Perhaps he's going for broke to break through and awy..not really certain of his motives but he certainly is getting more attention than he has thus far.

will it hurt him or not...time will tell.
