Well, this tv station, I think, is about as close as a person can get to being at thelyamhound's place without actually being there. ;)
It's an interesting station. I had never heard of it and haven't yet found anyone else who has heard of it.

Who'd have thought that coming out of the liberal bastion of MA that I would have landed (by pure luck and coincidence, even!) in a place that has so much weird, arty cultural stuff.
Between this tv station and the local radio station,

I'm practically covered up in art and culture and being exposed to all sorts of stuff that I wouldn't have even imagined I could find in a major northeastern city.
I think I'm going to like it here, as soon as I get some furniture and rugs. Criminy, I had the tv on in the living room - which is like a giant cave because it has nothing much besides the tv in it - and from the computer room, the echo is so loud and non-directional that it sounds like someone blasting a megaphone from outside. It's a very strange sensation...so I turned the tv down a bit. Shockheaded Peter was really getting quite irritating with the intermittent screaming, I figured my neighbours may think I was being murdered.
But, no, sadly, I am not an artist at the moment. According to my teachers (who I am sure lifted it from somewhere else), you are what you do. So I am a lowly designer of commercial schlock currently, not an artist.
I think I need the isolation to sleep...crickets and trains passing just aren't doing it for me. I did pass by one of those vendors at the show in Miami - with the nature-noise cd's to soothe one into a restful sleep. It made me laugh when I was passing by the booth and the lovely gentleman manning the station said that a girl with such a beautiful smile should have something sweet, so he gave me an organic chocolate bar with pistachios and toffee. It was pretty good! All those years of good dental care really come in handy. ;)
Sweet dreams to you too, my dear. I suppose I should toddle off to bed, since tomorrow I have to go get my NC license and registration so that I can get a PO box (and a cheaper rate on my car insurance - at least that's what I've been promised), which apparently you have to pass some kind of FBI/CIA screening to get down here - very bizarre. Two forms of picture ID and at least 2 items of mail with the new address as proof of residency. (And wouldn't you know that my bloody mortgage bill has my previous address on it!) But now I have the gas and the electric bill, so I'm good to go...and a paycheck too!
Maybe poverty and loneliness will not be so intolerable after all. :)
