The Best Audio Book I've Ever Heard
by reluctant/b/tard

Was Assif Mandvi reading Salman Rushdie's "Shalimar the Clown"

I'm more familiar with Mandvi for his work on The Daily Show, but his reading of that book was amazing. I still hear his voice when I'm reading the book to myself.

DiMeo mentions Philip Pullmans His Dark Materials trilogy for very good reason. I usually dislike audiobooks, and not only do I love the recording, I miss it now that I've finished it.

One book I could never tolerate reading, but loved the audio:

Martin Shaw reading JRR Tolkien's "Silmarillion". The production never stumbles over the language, and it was possible for me to imagine these stories as the sort of tales read by an Anglo-Saxon storyteller.
