The New Bridge Opened in Minneapolis
by Rain
It only took 13 months to complete. It has lots of high tech systems that make it extremely safe. Basically its the one safe bridge in the state now. lol.

I dunno. With all those lakes, there are an awful lot of bridges.

The local media did a series on Texas dams & bridges after that happened. If you drive a lot or live on a waterway, every time you get home safely or survive a rainstorm, you should count yourself fortunate. No wonder my mother's always feared them.

Was there a ceremony or dedication?

Now i can't be countenancing all this new-fangled technology. Seems like e'er since the invention of that there horseless carriage, folks be puttin' their blind faith in all these forsaken contraptions but reckon i'll still be using Jebidiah's old rope bridge up there on Dead Man's bluff.

I'll be bidding you a good mornin' , missy.

There was a thing with politicians a day or two earlier, and when the bridge actually opened for traffic, they just let cars start crossing before dawn. We had hoped for something with pedestrians and cyclists getting a quick tour, but that didn't happen. My personal bridge opening event was on Sunday (Sept 14) when they let a couple thousand cyclists ride under the new bridge on the River Road. It has been closed for construction for over a year since the bridge collapsed onto it. The Tour of Minneapolis bike event was permitted to use the road, but then it closed again for another week, until they can finish some work on the sidewalk and bike path.

Hi, a ceremony on Monday and they opened the bridge at 5:00 AM on the following Thursday. People were fighting about who was going to be in the first cars across, so they had state troupers and other emergency personnel take the first lines of vehicles across on both sides.

They are constructing a memorial for the 13 victims in a small park by the bridge.

It is a beautiful bridge. I haven't been across it yet though.
