of course the fundamentals are sound
by gzuckier
as long as you are relying on investment in diverse portfolio of multinational conglomerates to pay your mortgage, rather than a salary.

I don't rely on anyone to pay anything for me. That is one of the problems, we have created a society who looks for hondouts and bail outs. The economy IS sound, we are not in a reccession, we have growth, and it is because of governments mis management of one of the largest welfare debacles in history that we are in the tank. What Enron? What WorldCom? Compaired to the book cooking and graph in freddie and fannie, that is peanuts.

Ummmm....neither Freddie Mac nor Fannie Mae were government controlled. They were (note, WERE) independent companies that operated on the same rules as every other company, with the exception that they expected to be bailed out in case they failed. Note also that they were operating in a de-regulated environment, so the government didn't even have oversight into many of their activities.

Considering the number of other companies that have failed (and also bailed out by the big ole bad government) thus far, by basing their business models on those fundamentals that you consider to be so sound, I'd have to say that the evidence is pretty strongly against your case.

neither Freddie Mac nor Fannie Mae were government controlled.

You are 1/2 right. They are/were government sponsored and received special rates, loans, etc from the government, but were run by the private sector.

gzuck:

Here are your answers:

#1 is subjective, a matter of opinion.

#2 is true

#3 is true

#4 is false. The government created fannie and freddie but didn't (until last week) run them.

You're welcome
