God
by mlmos52

As a true non believer I find the ideal of a God a whole lot less offences than any religion. I just don't think that any amount of money will buy you enlightenment are gain you access to a heaven. As I look around the world and see so much hate and anger based on religion that says their God is a just and loving God, but it is ok to hate anyone who does not follow their religion. Killing in the name of their God is ok to. I wonder if the people who believe in a God ever think about what they will tell this God when that judgment they think is coming, about the way they follow a religion that teaches hate of others while teaching of a loving God.

I don't envy you writing about religion when it all too often is the opposed to the God that it teaches about. Keep pointing out the failings of religion and those that teach and follow them. Then someday maybe the world will see that a God may be ok but someone telling you how to believe in one is not.

Thank you for that simple truth. The best teachers and counselors and spiritual helpers are the ones who seek no fame or religious devotion.

Well put. Thank you. Is it really important what form your god takes, but as long as you live your life well and treat others well, isn't that all that matters? Life lessons aren't that complicated really, and there are ways we can learn them without losing ourselves or our money in the process. We all know the golden rule, but how often do we really think about it? It's a simple action, but a profound one.

You are ill-informed. The people that you are referring to that hate and judge others are not following the God of Truth, the One True God, Jesus Christ. Those that follow Jesus, and seek the truth of God in the Bible, do not seek hatred and distruction, for our God is the God of peace. Satan, as the Bible describes, is the Prince of Darkness, the lover of lies and distruction. That is the God you have discribed. Jesus said, if you are not for me, you are against me. You are either for God, or you follow Satan. I know this sounds preachy, but this is what the Bible teaches, and the Bible has never been disproven. It is the truth. I encourage you to find out for yourself. Try to disprove it.

People have tried to disprove Christianity for years, and have not been successful. This is because Christianity is based on the one true God, the God of Abraham and Issiac. Scientolgoy essentially makes yourself a God. This is nothing new from Biblical times when people worshiped idols and essentially made themselves Gods.

People like to create their own Gods because then they are able to make their own 'rules' so to speak. They like to hide behind the 'I'm a good person' idea. The problem is, none of us are really 'good' people. When we compare ourselves to each other, sure we can look good. Who wouldn't look good compared to people like Hitler, Charles Mansion, etc; But when we compare ourselves to God, then we run into trouble. This is why God gave us the 10 commandments, to be used as a mirror, to show us that we all fall short, and we are all headed down a dead end road, one that will ultimately lead to death and eternity seperated from God. Yet, in His mercy and grace, He provided us a way out. A way to be with Him for eternity. He sent His only son, Jesus, to saccrifice Himself for our sins. He paid the price for us- like paying someones bail. Many do not believe that Jesus even existed, or they think He was just some prophet. If you were to read Lee Strobel's book "The Case For Christ" you will find that Lee, a former atheist and lawyer, tried to prove that Jesus wasn't really who He claimed to be. After years of research, he didn't have a case. The author ultimately accepted Christ in the end of his journey of writing his book. But, like any gift, we need to except it. We need to recognize that we are all sinners, that we all need a savior, and then repent, or ask God to forgive us for our sins. We then need to turn from our sins, essentially, get off the road leading to distruction, and get on the narrow path leading to everlasting life. This is what being a Christian is all about. None of us are perfect- we are all tempted to sin. True Christians understand that we they need God to save them from their sins, that life is empty without Him, and seek to follow Him each day.

We were created to worship our Creator. His name is El Shaddai, our God, who is more than enough! Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Emmanuel, Prince of Peace. He's Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Raffa. He reigns victorious, giving us peace and health. He is always with us. He is our help, and our provider. Holy is our Lord. So Holy. Praise His Holy name. The Name above all names. Who was, and is, and is to come. Who loves us with an everlasting love, unconditional in it's flow. Nothing we can do to make Him love us, nothing we can do to make Him stop loving us. He does, because He is. His name is Love. His way is Love.

I pray that this response will touch your heart, and leave you seeking to find the truth. The one true God. He is out there, the Bible promises us, 'seek and you shall find.' I pray that you will seek.

How about if you try disprove the Ko'ran, Book of Mormon, or the latest Harry Potter book.

All of them certainly contain some truth, as well as many other things which are almost certainly not literally true.

Christianity has not eebn 'proved' or 'disproved' any more than Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shinto, Wicca...u name it.

And if you look into history and look at the amount of evil done in the name of 'Christianity', from wars to genocide to slavery, or just look at the correlation between being a self-proclaimed 'christian' in USA and supporting George Bush's miliatry adventurism in Iraq, its not hard to conclude that most of the so-called followers of 'Prince of peace' have in reality followed/are following 'Prince of Darkness'.

Just curious, how would you design a test to DISPROVE any religion (not just Christianity -- ANY religion).

Re: God
by mlmos52

Jeanine have you ever looked at the history of churches that follow Jesus? Look into it for a lot have died at the hands of the followers of Jesus. A lot more than have died at the hands of the followers of Satan.

Re: God

You're right- recent polls found that approximately 70% of the US population considers themself to be "Christian." Yet, if this were true, we would not have the problems we have today. People are confused. They are seeking after empty things in life, and are not really following Christ. This is why so many horrible things in history were done by so called "Christians." If they truely knew God, they would not seek to destroy or harm, but would seek to do as Christ calls us to- 'Love your neighbor, forgive others, seek peace.'
Re: God

Sure, many were marters for Christ, and still are. But who better to die for? If you are not for Christ, you are against Him. Anyone against Him, is dead already. Only their death is eternal. Forgive me for saying this, but I pray that you continue to seek after the truth.

Jeanine, the earlier post didn't say folks who DIED for Christ, it talked about folks who KILLED in the name of Christ (or are still killing in the name of Christ).

Re: God

Jeanine your message seam heart felt, but you seam to have missed the meaning of my message. It is know to move you from your God but from religion the true damnation of man. For it is the following of a religion that will move you from your God into a belief system that is far moved from what any God would want his or her follows to do base on the teaches of someone who wants and needs followers.

A noble sentiment, and I respect that. But if you looked at most major world religions, you'll find they all advocate pretty much the same thing. Unfortunately very few Christians ever bother learning about other religions in a positive way....

Re: God
by mlmos52

Jeanine your message shows that a religion has turned you in someone with hate because I don't believe as you. I think in the end a lot of true believers will find that their religion was not what God wanted. As for the followers of Jesus they have all broken the first commandment laid down in Exodus, They have put Jesus above God. Think about that and read the commandments for yourself.
