got your point, but Wasilla is not quite that far away. Its about 700 miles from Russia. DC to Crawford is about double that.

Palin's statement, although technically true (and I doubt she actually knew this, given the context of her statement) is pointless. She was attempting to create an image of valid foreign policy experience by claiming proximity to a foreign country.

The mayor of Niagara Falls NY has much more valid "foreign policy experience" on this standard, given a much closer proximity to Canada. I guarantee you can see Canada from countless points in New York, for instance. Palin's statement, in contrast, would be more like the mayor of NYC claiming "foreign policy experience" due to proximity to Iceland...sure, its across a vast expanse of ocean, but heck, that's a border, right??

Back off the lady?? She gets a free pass for dropping statements like that as she runs for one of the highest offices in the world? Makes us look like real dorks if we back off and say, "yeah, but she's hot." Most of us would be reprimanded in our jobs for making false statements, but she can? Come on people. It doesn't worry me too much though because I know women in general, though they may be endeared to her, really don't want her on the TV every night for men to droll over, esp when she isn't even bright. When about 10% of Wasilla's population is Russian or Ukrainian, somebody needs to rethink who's being ignorant with this entire topic.
