creationism - a poem

MYSTERIES

My cottage is nestled under the infinite glow of the boreal milky way,
where the Ursa Major marks its tiny front door.

During summer nights the waves in the beach tell me bedtime stories of the ancient past,
when they lapped at our ancestor's naked feet, who suddenly were no more.
They recall new waves of ancestors followed, to also disappear once more.

As I listen to these stories, I see they portend that mankind too shall follow the fate of the dinosaurs, leaving these shores for another wave of species, for we too shall be no more.

As I gaze at the inscrutable firmament trying to pry some answers, stars blink teasingly
knowing the mysteries of the universe are locked in their keep, just as safely as my
tiny front door.
