After the Democratic primaries, I and a small group of Hillary Clinton supporters met with Sen. John McCain. I explained to him that women comprise more than half of the population, yet are underrepresented in every branch of government. I asked him to choose a woman for the vice presidential slot and to increase the number of women in the Cabinet and on the Supreme Court. Mr. McCain listened respectfully to my request.

After the Democratic Primary, I was contacted by a member of Sen. Barack Obama's Finance Committee, and we had numerous contentious conversations. I finally told him I would be happy to vote for Mr. Obama and rally other Hillary Clinton supporters, but in return I wanted Mr. Obama to pledge gender parity in the Cabinet.

"What if there aren't qualified women - you still expect us to appoint half women to the Cabinet?" he replied. "There are 300 million people in this country; you're telling me you can't find 10 qualified women?" I said.

He responded, "You can't have that." We had no further conversations.

DNC tolerated and most likely fomented the sexist barrage against Clinton cynically assuming that women would vote Dem.despite everything because they could be frightened with the threat of Roe v Wade being overturned. This is classic Saul Alinsky strategy. DNC thought they could manipulate Obama into the Whitehouse by using sexism to kneecap Clinton and using abortion to hold women hostage in the general election. I for one will not be held hostage. The writer is correct that Palin has shared some experiences that are uniquely female, including her stint as a pioneering sports reporter, writing her own copy as well, in an era where this was unheard of and where she was routinely referred to as a bimbo.

Since even the Bush admisinstration and certainly Bill Clinton has conspicuously appointed women to important cabinet positions, I find it very disturbing that the Obama campaign finds it difficult to make this a promise for his administration. This confirms my strong suspicion that the vitriolic sexism evident in the press and from dems. (Harry Reid- shrill comment) over the last 6 months originated with the man who is now at the top of the ticket.

It is mostly likely not his fault on how he views women.

He had no strong male influence during his youth, he was raised in a control that has a lack of respect for women, he was raised in a Muslim home, and he mother set him away when he was 10.

I am sure it is tough for him to change what we have all learned as children, and how this effects us the rest of our lives.

Yes, if he had picked Hiliary he would have won, but then it would not have been about him, it would have been about them.

Mr Obama is not a them guy, he want to be the 'instrument" that causes it to happen, and he is not looking for a band.

It does not mean he is bad person, and people change as they are forced to as they grow older.

It is just not his time, and Mrs Palin has given hope to so many, not just women, but men that are looking for real change, somebody that is willing to stand up to their own party and say they are wrong.

She is the one person running that can change Washigton, I just hope Washington does not change her.
