Moral equivalency
by Daveo

This article is filled with moral equivalencies that real "religion writers" would find offensive and completely immoral. Hey, I've eaten dead animals so Jeffrey Dahmer and I are the same, right? Jack Kevorkian assisted several people in killing themselves so he and Hitler are the same, right?

I believe this author is either too stupid to realize that he is lending creedence to a shady business that calls itself a religion, or he is somehow benefiting from the article. Either would be morally reprehensible.

The next time he decides to write an article about religion he will be just the same as the Zodiac killer, right?

Maybe this will put him up in the Google trained pigeon rankings.

You shouldn't be that harsh on the writer; this is an OPINION column, not written on stone, not something everyone has to agree on. I do agree with you that comparisons are offensive (I am catholic), but that was not the main point of the article. Being open-minded on other people's points should just make yours stronger if you disagree.

I agree. Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism are nothing like Scientology, it's more like loosely associated at best. Religion doesn't extort money out of its members by brainwashing them like a CULT does, either. Religion doesn't let you "buy" your way to salvation by withholding information.
