There's nothing that pains me more than when the Canadian healthcare system is referred to as 'free'. So to the author of this otherwise well written article - get your facts straight - hard working Canadians pay through the nose for subpar healthcare, it's just not as obvious due to the fact it comes from tax money. Ask any Canadian and they'll tell you - there's nothing free in life! And if it appears that way to an outsider it's because there is so much money being collected in taxes!

Unfortunately, the author's lack of understanding about what is free and what isn't in Canada made the rest of the article fall flat.

maybe not free but universally avaliable. and if you're a low income Canadian who doesn't make eneugh money to even pay taxes, then yes the Canadian Medical system is free.

there's no worry of getting outta the hospital and having a huge debt to pay back.
