all over the world people love themselves and their culture and country and kind, regardless of what is going on where they live, slavery, honor killings, people being untouchables. Yet libs expect us to look around and conclude, yes we are vile. Can't be done. As it is, we already are more critical than any other group of people on earth. In fact, that kind of thing is strictly western. We say: I did wrong. I must reform. I must be fair or kind. How could I do something like that? Everyone else is very complacent and self satisfied. I'm no "liberal" but the Coens are great. I don't think they hate America either, most of their films celebrate the good and the bad that makes the American Experience so rich. I think you are off base here.

Oh Brother Where Art Thou offered some celebratory aspects of America, including American music.

If the Coen brothers do anything, they reveal that American culture is a HUMAN culture, with its flaws, contradictions, problems, and not some mythic God sanctioned way of life that ritewing propagandists would have one belief.

As someone who used to live in the Wash metro area, i dont recall the bench hook up scene on the Capitol, but I was happily married then.
