Economics? Yes. Race? Absolutely not.
by Anse

The following comes from Wikipedia. If you don't like Wikipedia, check the references this entry provides:

Africans have the highest educational attainment rates of any immigrant group in the United States with higher levels of completion than the stereotyped Asian American model minority.[2] It is not only the first generation that does well, as estimates indicate that a highly disproportionate percentage of black students at elite universities are African or the children of African immigrants. [3]]

In an analysis of Census Bureau data by the Journal of Blacks in higher education, African immigrants to the United States were found more likely to be college educated than any other immigrant group. African immigrants to the U.S. are also more highly educated than any other native-born ethnic group including white Americans. Some 48.9 percent of all African immigrants hold a college diploma. This is slightly more than the percentage of Asian immigrants to the U.S., nearly double the rate of native-born white Americans, and nearly four times the rate of native-born African Americans.[7]

In 1997, 19.4 percent of all adult African immigrants in the United States held a graduate degree, compared to 8.1 percent of adult whites and 3.8 percent of adult blacks in the United States, respectively.[8] This information suggests that America has an equally large achievement gap between whites and African/Asian immigrants as they do between white and black Americans....

Of the African-born population in the United States age 25 and older 86.4% reported having a high school degree or higher, compared with 78. 9% of Asian born immigrants and 76.5% of European born immigrants, respectively. These figures contrast with 61.8% percent of the total foreign-born population.[9] Immigrants groups in general tend to have higher high school graduation rates than the native-born general American population.....

You can say it's about culture--a lot of these immigrants come from former European colonies--and you can certainly argue that economics is a factor. But the inherent capabilities of the various races have nothing to do with anything.

Now stop this racist bullshit and focus on the facts.

I never claimed that NO blacks have high IQs, but the fact is that FEWER blacks have high IQs compared with most other racial/ethnic groups. The average subSaharan black African has an IQ in the range of 75 to 80. Of course a small percentage have IQs in the over 110 range and these few smarter blacks are more often the ones who get college degrees and graduate degrees. It is difficult for the average subSaharan black African (who is usually very low-IQ and often illiterate and destitute) to emigrate to the USA. Consequently the black African immigrants that arrive here in the America have been highly selected for academic achievement, we are merely skimming the cream from these countries. These educated African blacks are often happy to escape from their subSaharan African countries which are mostly poverty stricken, poorly governed Hell-holes (as would be expected given the overall low IQ level of black Africans).

If you think black Africa is a wellspring of prosperity and intellectual fervor, I suggest you read some news articles or some books about Africa (e.g. The Fate of Africa by Martin Meredith), or maybe you could go visit one of the many African countries that has been so vastly improved since overcoming recent white domination (e.g. Zimbabwe), perhaps you and Bobby Mugabe could discuss enlightened education policy. Incidently, since you envision Africa as having so very many highly intelligent and highly educated blacks, do you ever wonder why for some reason almost all the businesses and technology in subSaharan Africa are owned and managed by non-Blacks? In the past these higher-IQ owners, managers, and techical professionals were often Jews, Arabs and Asian Indians, but now more recently there are a lot of Chinese running things in Africa. The most obvious explanation is because most black Africans have IQs that are too low to manage businesses and technology on their own. For more details you could read some chapters of World on Fire by Amy Chua.

Africa is in no worse shape than Europe was between the fall of Rome and the Medievel period, the so-called "Dark Ages."

And the notion of IQ is hotly debated. Science has yet to settle just how intelligence may be measured. In fact, you are the first person I have encountered in a long time to even mention IQ, much less make it a primary focus.

My experience confirms the research. Some of my very best and brightest students are black, both American-born and immigrant. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. You are repeating very old, very racist stereotypes that are complete horseshit.
