Simple Solution
by ChrisCT

Force = mass x acceleration. The need to bulk up also adds to the medical problems. Other sports have weight limits. The NFL should announce that in 2009 no player can weigh more than 300lbs, and reduce the weight limit by 10lbs a year for X years. Don't dismiss it, think about it.

Let's put a height restriction on basketball players while we are at it. Just because.

Simple solutions for simple minds.

and weight restrictions on boxers, weight-lifters, wrestlers and other contact sports - as I said don't dismiss.

Your solution may have merit in the case of injuries casued by collision, and collision between the big guys, but that is only a part of the total. Look at the injuries casued by the running back making a cut and blowing out a knee. Or look at some of the most horrific injuries, Daryl Stingley comes to mind, where there is a hit by a defenseive back on a receiver, guys who never tip the scales at 300 plus. I also think of one of the Gramatica brothers, kickers in the NFL. The one had a career ending leg injury celebrating a field goal.

Good points so a partial simple solution! But it also addresses the strain on hearts, backs and knees to bulk up that much. (Yes some guys will find it hard to slim down.) I also remember Dave Barry's suggestion during the Cold War that we put a 100 yard strip of astroturf between West and Eastern Europe and watch the Russian army blow it's knees out.

also wat ch out for canned drinks that have to much explosvie carbonation in them. twice this week on bith major brands my cnas have really hurt my hand when i opened them. this could cause a serious eye injury to anyone. in any sport any cnned drink or cola type fizzy drinks should be banned unless served in ice cups for everyones safety. be safe everyone
