I'm sorry did I read that right?!
by harryk316
How is global climate change not on the top ten list of concens of this idiot! Global warming is the number one issue facing every single living human being on this planet-whether they believe it or not. The future of every living organism on Earth will be determined by our approach to combating climate change within the next 20 years. We are on borrowed time. Truth hurts and we need to deal with this issue. We have too many "intellectuals" sticking their heads in the sand.

what he means is that you probably don't care much about global warming if you are starving right now.

exactly... its a luxury to worry about a few degree temp increase if you are starving today, or have lost your home to poor mortgage decisions. This (warming) will impact many, but hard to argue w/ the notion that to afford the solutions we have to generate appropriate buy in and capital amongst those at the lower end of the pay scale.

I guess it's a case of comments by people who have never heard of Mazlow's Hierarchy of needs.Don't appeal to a starving man by asking him how he intends to self-actualize!

I do think Obama has to confront McCain directly by asking exactly who is benefitting from Bush's tax policy and asking point blank, " Do you intend to continue the Bush cuts as they are?"

Obama definitely will not continue them!

How did you guys understood that he was talking about a starving man just illustrates one more time how insistent and creative in their denial people are when it comes to global warming.

No, he wasn't talking about a starving man, because he was not talking about top ten problems for the individual (not the starving or the rich individual); he was talking about top ten problems for the world, humanity as a whole, or at least for the West or the usa. He was comparing Top Ten Problems from the social perspective, and not for a starving individual.

So your argument is meaningless. You are using starvation as an excuse to dismiss the seriousness of the threat that global warming poses when you, in fact, are not starving and are far from poor. People who are actually starving are not really producing much greenhouse gasses and we therefore don't need them to worry about that problem. If you really cared about the starving people you would not dismiss Global Warming, because it will only create more hunger and poverty.
