Anyone But Hillary
by Payback
Obams is an articulate black guy. Big deal. What I heard of his ideas I don't like. But as isay Anyone but Hillary. I only hope that the electorate isn;t so turned off Reublications because of their present hatred of Bush, that they refuse ti vote for the right guy for this time, Rudy. Many hated LBJ but like Bush he did good for the country before we became bogged down by war.
Re: Anyone But Hillary

Bush didn't do squat for the country except run up a huge deficit and debt.

The ecology is worse, remember him pushing for lighter limits on arsenic in the water...or mercury in the air? We have a larger national debt than anyone would ever have thought. When Reagan took office we owed, as a nation, $900billion. When he left office we owed $3 trillion. When Bush 41 left office we owed about $4.5 trillion. By the time "W" moved in to the White House we owed about $6 trillion.

When will we pay it back if we don't elect a democrat now?

I'm not supporting Hillary, but would like to know what she has done that would cause you to assume she is the worst candidate possible?

I personally think Rudy is a one trick pony...he is going to run around saying 911,911, terrorist, terrorist....as if he actually did something at some time in his life that helped defend us against terrorism. He walked around the devastation and did his best to look like he was helping. Fact of the matter is that he failed to plan for an attack. The radio problems that the firemen and police had were his problems. The fact that the emergency center was destroyed in the attack was his problem.

Hillary would sure not be my first choice for President. However, with Hillary we get Bill and whether you like him or hate him for his personal weaknesses, Bill was able to put together a top-notch staff of Diplomats, Advisors and Economists in his Administration. So, in effect I think as President, Hillary's learning curve would be fairly short as long as she is surrounded by top-notch advisors.

For me, once I look at it from that perspective even though voting for her might make me grimace somewhat, I would vote for anyone other than a Republican since I don't think our Country can withstand another four years of the falsehoods, cronyism and corruption inherent in the Republican Party.

"I'm not supporting Hillary, but would like to know what she has done that would cause you to assume she is the worst candidate possible?"

What has she done that would make you think she would NOT be the worst candidate possible?

As for Rudy what about what he did for the economy of NYC? The rapid drop in the crime rate, the cleaning up of Times Square and the overall virtual resurrection of New York as a tourist and buisness powerhouse?

The radio's on 9/11....the new Dem talking point? Tell me how is Hillary going to attack him on that when her Husband repeatedly failed to respond to Bin Laden time after time after time and after time? When she is bound to surround herself with the advisors who are from the same school fo thought as Albright and Cohen?.....

Re: Anyone But Hillary

Apparently Rudy forgot that it was Bill Clinton who had the first WTC bombers in jail and their ringleaders caught. Bush had numerous warnings which went ignored and then the jackass went on vacation in August when the chatter was really high. Bush was the moron who was too busy playing president to pay attention to the job....making sure his socks had the presidential seal as terrorists were massing for the attack.

Rudy happened to be the mayor when NYC was hit. This is hardly a heroic deed. Anyone could have asked the federal government for help and called for cooperation by citizens, that might be a good response, but as others have said, your actions in one instance should not define your qualifications-and Rudy has little to crow about-ask the fire and police about working without a contract while Rudy did NOTHING but demand that they not strike FOR YEARS (and it is against the law for them to strike). As to reduding crime, Rudy had the Clinton economy combined with these same policemen who he would not pay a raise which was in their contract.....I cant wait to see the ads that come out if he gets the nod.....by police and fire who survived 911 and many who will point out how both the city and the federal government left the people who got sick cleaning up high and dry.....giving Michael Moore some new movie fodder.

Amen to that!

I was an ABC wine drinker Anything But Chardonnay, but it was still better than tap water.

Rudy is certainly a one trick pony, wonder if he ever tricked with Heidi Fleiss?

Re: Anyone But Hillary

Rudy can claim credit for reducing crime, but what did he do to improve the economy in New York. Tourism is a pretty small part of the puzzle.

Rudy chose the vendor for the emergency radio system, in spite of the feedback from the people who would have to use them. He also decided to put the emergency center in the Trade Center complex, even though he was advised to put it away from any potential target.

Those decisions don't make him out to be much of a help if terrorists attack. He did nothing else related to 911, but that is his new trademark.

As far as what Bill did or did not do related to Bin Laden, you and I will never agree. There was no proof of Bin Laden's involvement in most of the terrorist actions up until 1998 or even 1999. Even then, when Clinton tried to kill Bin Laden, the republicans screamed bloody murder. There was even talk of impeachment for his use of force both when he attacked Bin Laden and when he attacked Iraq.

Clinton did manage to focus his resources on capturing a significant number of terrorists and put them behind bars....or did you forget that?

If you want to talk about failure to act, The USS Cole was attacked in October of 2000. The FBI identified Bin Laden as a participant in December of 2000. Clinton decided to let Bush decided what to do, rather than start a war with 30 days left to go. What did Bush do about the USS Cole in the 8 months that he was president, before Bin Laden attacked us again?

Even if Clinton had ordered an invasion of Afghanistan in December of 2000, you do realize that the military would not have put troops on the ground while Clinton was president. When Bush ordered an attack on the Taliban and Al Qaeda, we did not actually invade until November, aside from a few special forces troops and French commandoes.

Heck, as many times as Rudy has been married and divorced, I wouldn't be surprised if maybe he was married to Heidi at one time!

When Rudy says "till death do us part as long as we both shell live", he obviously believes in living multiple lives!

Re: Anyone But Hillary
by RML Returns

Ahhhhh the sanctity of marriage from the RNC viewpoint.

They wont let a loving gay couple marry for life, but a good WASP can cheat on his wife and remarry as many times as he wants and thats OK. Rush Limbaugh is on wife #? And Newt?....the list goes on and on.

Hey, want to "defend marriage"? Make divorce illegal.

Re: Anyone But Hillary

As a democrat I am cautious about Hillary simply because there is so much unreasonable hate directed toward her by so many. In my part of the country people will go to the polls in bus loads to vote for anyone but Hillary.

BUT, no one seems to ever explain why they hate her. You, the one that started this thread. WHY the hate? From purely objective criteria, like experience, she's hard to beat. She's the most conservative of the democrats.

If you hate leftys, its Edwards and Obama you ought to hate. Why Hillary? What's the big difference between her and Rudy?

Re: Anyone But Hillary
by davela77a

I am not the biggest fan of Hillary. I think she will be an ok President, who has a Bill Clinton-like team of advisors that will trouble shoot their way through all of the problems that Bush created, but why do people hate her so much? I am a man who would not vote for a woman if she were soft spoken and shy. Hillary talks in a firm manner and tries to give off strength and confidence. Do people hate Hillary because she is a person who does that or because she is a WOMAN who does that?

If people have good reasons not to vote for her, than fine. But if you are not voting for her because you want woman to behave more like Laura Bush and less like Hillary Clinton, then that is your problem, not hers.

Re: Anyone But Hillary
by Bama
After the last 6 1/2 years, its clear that we need a president that is smart, competent, hard working, and experienced. Of all the candidates, of both parties, announced and unannounced, does anyone fit that bill better than Hillary? I think not.
Re: Anyone But Hillary
by Time4CommonSense

I am not quite as hardcore about the first-time divorce issue. I have seen some cases where some couples get married really young and it is just turns out to be a really bad match.

But I have no sympathy at all for people that don't learn anything from their first mistake and get divorced and remarried multiple times. Either they are really slow-learners or they are ill-equipped poor decision makers!

Re: Biden has better credentials

When Bush wanted to negotiate with Libya to get rid of their nuclear weapons program he sent Biden. Gotta be a reason for that.
Re: Biden has better credentials

True as to Biden, but he has no executive branch experience. Hillary argueably does.
