Weisberg hit the nail on the head in the opening paragraph of his article; however, he kept hitting it with his literary hammer sideways with all the power of Planned Parenthood's propaganda like a liberal machine until he had a whole the size of Alaska in his presentation. Don't worry Weisberg, I've been there...lol. In fact, I've bent every nail after the title off and on for several years. This is the problem of head knowledge of women's issues: you are forced to rely on the accepted authority's information this is just as dangerous as what happened in the "Bush Tragedy" you are lead astray by biased and faulty information provided by powerful, loud and faceless so called feminists. You need to listen to modern liberalism to realize that "abortion is a moral issue" as declared by Obama in the later debates.
I am a woman, formerly I've known many other women, I do live in the bible belt and during my life I've been treated to the roasting rhetoric of extreme factions of the christian right and its Right to Life campaign. The propaganda pushers from both sides have screamed their opinions at my generation for 30 years that I've had the misfortune to be an audience.
Both sides use apalling tactics to gain numbers on their side, to have a cause worth fighting for because in recent memory we seem to have lost the cause of brotherhood and sisterhood. The Christian right is horrified to think of silent screams and pictures of formed fetuses burned by saline abortions. That's understandable to me - it's gruesome. The Far Left is horrified to think of stories of dead teenagers that were too scared to face what is before them and turned to butchers. Equally as gruesome. They have in the past been so motivated by shock as to take big pictures of coat hangers to a public conventions and spread their own brand of rage, hate and terror to whoever would listen. Don't deny that. No common American I've met wants either case scenario.
Throughout the years, I've listened to these warring sects at times I've been swayed by both but still never as a woman believed in my heart it was a good idea to have an abortion. I know people who have and do not judge them. How could I? The supposed "feminists" have all but told them it is the right thing to do! They suffered as women with guilt and regret and decimated self esteem so do not ever discount that reality, sir. Neither in your type discount that fact that I was a single mother and my son that I did not choose to abort was raised to care about his fellow man. He's signing up to protect you. It wasn't perfect, no, you have your well read points and stats. There's another single mother I know who did not choose to abort and that young man is now serving this country as a marine. Do not underestimate the power of a single mom to instill some sense of caring in a young man.
That being said we should not be so horrified as to address the subject of abortion in our constitution in a more sober manner and possibly to address the right to privacy at the same time because neither subject is covered in that document.
All that being said, I agree with several points of your article. The republicans seem to have forgot a few things, but even a democrat leaning independent has to admit the dems did too.
