Finally, a post on Slate that has logic at its core rather than rapid -hate and sexism.

this is a balanced reasoned piece and i am thankful Slate has posted it. now if you could get rid of the rapid anti-feminists who write for xx factor, and stop telling q-one that a vote against BHO means you are racist.

also, for an excellent piece that uses logic to show why a vote for Palin is a vote for feminism, go to

here is link: <link>

and remember... it was the RED party that gave women their 1st Supreme Court Justice!

gettn' there IS the battle!

The article that you link to states: "We feminists need to think in the larger vein now. What drives this fear of women and control? Lack of experience with women in control."

That seems to be the basic summary of the article, and I couldn't disagree more.

The reason people have "this fear of women and control" is the fact that the issues that women, on the whole, support, are more liberal than men. Thats it - issues. Thats why conservative men love Sara Palin. Because she's conservative.

Hitchens without "rapid hate and sexism"? Are you serious? This post bleeds hatred.

And when, before about 10 days ago that is, did the Grand Ole Party stand for feminism? Would you care to lay claims to Civil Rights because Lincoln was a Republican too? Or maybe Alan Keys would be a better example.

Sorry, getting there is not the battle. The battle begins with changing the institutional forces that reinforce the ideologies of discrimination and prejudice.

so yes, i agree with you that the fear is that women in power will upset the apple cart of male dominence. but what u are saying is only letting a conservative women in is acceptable to conservatives. sure, but just the experience of a women in office who will not cry at press briefings and demand that all males watch Harry meet Sally as a re-education project --fear will be tamed.

if makes sense that if status quo is male power then the least threat will be the woman how challenges that the least.

That is why a white/black Obama stands a chance over a black/black JJackson. Change comes slowly...or not at all...

hmmm, whatever it takes to turn GOPs onto feminism is great by me. do you really think walls aren't breaking when GOPs. for goodness sakes are promoting a women to veep who just gave birth. i'm thrilled that GOPs are corretly understanding that attacking a woman's ability to run for office is not impede by her vagina. nothing to bring them to the table like ulterior motives. but ...hell i will take it. do you think little kids in GOP households are not drinking this in at a subconscious level???

think again. GOP lashing out against sexism is Progress!!
