An 8 for the "good beat."

So is this political or just the ongoing culture war long in play. Unlike the ageist ploy represented by an allusion to McCain’s heart, I think the world of Heart, namely Ann and Nancy Wilson. I particularly like Ann’s hard driving voice, but then, you got a quick free fall when it comes to rock and roll queens.
Got a live version of an acoustic Nancy singing "Kathy’s Song," a Paul Simon staple of youth.
"The only truth I know is you."
Perhaps appreciation, or a curious infatuation may be overdone when it concerns artists or entertainers, but they do matter. In songs, lyrics matter, most especially when simple words convey to us far more complex realities.
"Barracuda" was played merely for the nickname association with a vice-presidential nominee. There is no more relevance. After all, the song seems to be about certain tribulations inherent to the music industry. Think an aged Grand Funk Railroad finally getting to play again after years of litigation. Three happy guys!
If the Democratic ticket gets carte blanche choice of a soundtrack simply because a preponderance of artists are liberal/progressive, let it be–but don’t forget to read the fine print.
Always.
So Ann and Nancy, I’ll still listen to your classics, and will also remember the televised "Concert for the Americas" in 1982. You sang in the rain (no, you all sang in a freaking downpour). And Santana followed.
Even Sinatra was there, somewhat curtailed by the concurrent tropical condition.
"Hearts rolling in, taken back out on the tide." I’m sure the McCain-Palin campaign will oblige and let you keep the your creative joy from the sandbox.
Lastly, thanks for the prescience previously expressed in "Dog and Butterfly:"
"We’re getting older, the world’s getting colder."
I hear you.
