The left trying to get back on offense
by Kazillions
+1 Reply

They are throwing so much manure against the wall in the hopes of something sticking that they are forgetting there are ways and ways of "getting back on offense."

The way they've apparently chosen is that which leads to turning off a broad swath of undecided voters, let's see if we can summarize the liberals latest collective hissy fit:

- "Ignore McCain's service record! It means nothing!" (the same people that supported "Ready for Duty" John Kerry)

- "Where's Palin? I don't care that she just went through a whirlwind week and has to attend to some of her duties in Alaska, not to mention her son shipping out to Iraq in 4 days, I want her to do interviews interviews interviews, now now now!!! Is she on "training wheels", can she not handle it? No, we're not being sexist they are I tell you, they are!"

- "McCain is Bush, McCain is Bush!"

Well, um, actually George W. Bush is George W. Bush, and he won two terms, so he can't serve in the White House anymore. Even the New York Times was fond of calling John McCain a "Maverick", and the MSM always called him a straight talker. But keep insisting someone is someone else and try to run against someone who doesn't even have to respond.

- "What about her pastor? Oh, crap, we can't bring up pastors."

- "What about her being for the bridge before she was against it? Oh, crap, that was the GOP line that reminded everyone what a bunch of mealy mouthed flip flopping duds liberal senators are."

- "What about her children? She's a bitch for trying to have a career and raise kids at the same time. Women are incapable of doing that! She must be a hellbitch from hell to her children, they must hate her, because, uh, because women are incapable of having a career and a family too."

What a bunch of delightful talking points you've come up with for yourselves, liberals. Good job!

How about...

McCain is a sellout. (He was a maverick)

Palin is a loon. (Not to you, but to people who believe in reality...)

Both demonstrably true.

A true war hero and a Republican governor vs. the inexperienced socialist and his plagiarist nutjob of a buddy. This is going to be so much fun!
Re: rofl

War hero? Absolutely yes. So what? It speaks volumes about his physical courage, but says nothing about his ability to govern. It says nothing about his ability to lead and inspire. I like the guy and admire him, but he sold his soul for the Republican nomination. He just wants to be president for a day before he dies.

Sarah Palin is repulsive. In every possible way. She is a big fat liar. Her record of "accomplishments" is mostly - or entirely - fictional. The "Bridge to Nowhere" was cancelled before she even ran for Governor. The jet was not sold on ebay. Etc.

Sure, Biden's a plagiarist. But Obama isn't a 72 year old cancer survivor. Obama had many better choices than Biden. But Biden, at least, has a brain and a record that can be attacked and defended. Palin is just showbiz.

Repulsive in every possible way?

Wow! I'll just let that whole post speak for itself, thank you very much.

See that. Assertion without evidence.

Schadenfreude,I would venture to say that you and Obama have little room to identify what a loon is.

This is a loon:

over the top convention, most democrats thought that the election was in the bag for Obama and his 'not a woman' vice presidential pick. So they really are in shock that McCain simply snapped his fingers and instantly sent his campaign into competitive high gear by selecting what the Democratic Party leadership and Obama jointly rejected, a woman for his vp pick, and a tiger of a politician at that.

Now McCain and Obama are neck and neck in a campaign that most Democrats thought was theirs for the taking before the Republican convention. They are in shock, and they are angry and frightened.

There's a bit of irony here, however, and that is that if they stick to talking about the issues they automatically make Obama look a little bit better than he actually is in voter's eyes. Whenever they attack McCain or Palin on personal or character issues they look worse in voter's eyes.

It's not that McCain can't match or beat Obama on the issues, but he does have to work harder at this than does Obama. Of late, Obama has been dipping his toes into the water of specifics while McCain is still looking at those mysterious depths and wincing.

I will give a specific here. It's not enough for McCain to call education the new Civil Rights issue and spout off about changing things. He needs to get specific on the hows and whys and how we are going to pay for it, and if we are going to pay for it by letting something else drop, what is he recommending we let drop? Where will this new civil rights issue take its place in his administration, right up there near military procurements and prosecution of wars or does he intend to place it somewhat further down on the priority list and, if so, how far down.

Right now Obama is coming closer to issuing meaningful specifics after endless months of blathering about meaningless Hope and Change. Now it's McCain spouting off about change, change, CHANGE! Well, that's great, now tell us exactly what and how much and where and when and so forth.

If, however, the Republicans can sucker the Democrats into continuing to fixate on qualifications and personal issues then they [the Obama/Biden ticket, that is] are definitely going to lose this race.
