The latest Liberal "spin"
by RCH1

I watched some of the "talking heads" last night for a while and it appears that they all received the same Obama Campaign talking points.

Barack Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe released the following statement: - "We appreciate Senator McCain's campaign manager finally admitting that his campaign is not in fact about the issues the American people care about, which is exactly the kind of cynical old politics people are ready to change."

The problem, as usual, is that Plouffe has taken the comment totally out of context and now it is being repeated by all the media pundits. What Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain, actually said was - -

"Issues will no doubt play a major role in the decisions undecided voters will make but that they won't ultimately be conclusive. He added that the campaign has 'ultimate faith' in the idea that the more voters get to know McCain and Barack Obama, the better the Republican nominee will do".

Unfortunately, I think that Rick Davis is probably correct, as we have all seen over the last few weeks - the campaign is turning into a contest of "personalities" rather than issues. With the possible exception of the scheduled debates, I doubt we will see very much from either side regarding the issues which matter much.

HI !!! MaryAnne

I presume you are referring to the post by write_on regarding Rick Davis' comments regarding the appearances of Palin.

Is this all we have to discuss ? Which candidates will be on which weekend show ? This whole election is turning into a disgusting "mess".

I have suggested some of the posters discuss what needs to be done.

I just saw Obama and he was telling his audience about how bad McCain was.I heard nothing of what he planned to do.This is the guy who was going to be a different polititician.

I thought Obama was going to stay above the fray and let Biden do the dirty work.

There are some good old movies on, RON. I suggest you do that or spend time with the family.:o) I am.

I didn't spin shit. Now, you're the one doing the spinning.

Read my post in the thread below.

That type of spin is typical not unusual and is only possible in a political environment where there is a friendly press that refuses to point out their lies.

That post was about how Davis thinks that winning the election is more important than putting Palin on the morning talk shows to be asked questions instead of reading a script over the radio, not the media.

It was clear what the post was about. You chose to spin it.

Ron,

If you want to see spin, look no further than this thread.

You didn't post all of what Davis said. What he said before the paragraph you posted is telling and Plouffe's statement is the result of it.

"This election is not about issues," said Davis. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."
Davis added that issues will no doubt play a major role in the decisions undecided voters will make but that they won't ultimately be conclusive. He added that the campaign has "ultimate faith" in the idea that the more voters get to know McCain and Barack Obama, the better the Republican nominee will do.
