The Debates
by marylb

The debates are coming up soon and they have Palin sequestered from the reporters. I can understand that. The reality of her background has not allowed her to digest the mass of information she must know before sitting across from the extremely knowledgeable Biden on world affairs. I suspect if I had to hazard a guess I suspect she will try to bring the conversation to Domestic issues in a limited way. While he absolutely has more experience than she does, repeats of policy for McCain interrupted by what is considered her most known awareness, oil, may rule her day. Biden may not cooperate. Either way it is blue collar versus Madam Governor. If her lack of knowledge is going to show up, it will be there. If she handles it as she delivered the speech she may be in trouble. Of course if she is in trouble Biden will be a sexist. That is just the way it is in politics.

Obama and McCain will be much more interesting and that one I have no clue on. McCain does have the edge on time spent in Washington but how the state legislature combined with Washington impacts Obama's knowledge base is any one's guess. They both have discussable records so it will probably be the more interesting debate if you love politics. Kind of a David and Goliath remake of the ensconced Washington elite versus the newcomer.

Interesting that both debates (VP and President) have similar dynamics but it is the Presidential debate I am most interested in. The VP slot will only feed my morbid curiosity about how the much wider gap that exists on this one can be managed by the inexperienced Palin. She will be prepped to the max as a newcomer to US issues. She may hang with the big boys in a speech but live open debate is another question. Whether questions are pre-given to them may short circuit any learning about them if they can be prepped for the questions. I'd like to see her come out well enough that she is not dismantled by the press. Of course Biden can be a question if he sticks his foot in his mouth.

By all accounts she should have a tough, tough time but it really depends on the format.

Biden is known to babble, well beyond making his point, and starts injecting nonsense, the most recent example was at Justice Roberts confirmation. Biden wouldn't shut-up. Palin has a good chance of making him look like an ass.

You would be proud of me.

I got off BB almost all day, and now have a very clean house, except for one laundry room that needs a little "fine tuning". It is amazing what you can get done if you do not get bogged down here in the am.

I've seen him being wordy but I have also seen him deliver incredibly knowledgeable and concise discussions so short of him having a complete breakdown I doubt we'll see rambling to that degree. He is prepped too, even with his background.

I'd be more concerned about wording. He tends blue collar at times. Although that may be just what the doctor ordered since she went blue collar with her speech in the attacks.

I can beat you on that. My honey and I drove about 200 miles round trip on business and we just got home. lol

In a way I'm jealous because my house is still a mess and my bum hurts! That was gruelling.

Nobody ever here but me, my sons, and a metro-sexual ex- BinL I am defeminizing. He is coming here with my niece tonight. He has been moving two of his daughters to Austin, one from Pt. St. Lucie and one from Boston, as well as going to NYC to see a new grandbaby. One whole year of defeminization has been shot to shit in the last month. My niece will be the first female to ever set foot in this house since I bought it, except one I used to hire to clean up. I finally figured out I was cleaning the place first getting all the weed out the way, so quit using her and do it myself. Cleaning up this place was like Hercules and the stables I can't quite think of but know you can. Well, not that bad maybe, but I spent most of the summer away, there was a real drought, and geting the dust out of this place damn near broke my ass!!! Forgive me if I am manic, I just drained the last of this morning's coffee, well reduced to a kick ass tar-like substance.
Hey man, if gas wasn't so high, I'd come up there and

get a taste of that SD fall weaather you spoke of earlier. I left a post down there too. I is really nice here, not having to run the a/c. A summer of reckless spendingon fun has left me broke, and I am hunkering down until I get the monthly buget back on track. That $4 gas all summer now has to be paid for.

Good Grief you just described a woman's nightmare. Please prepare your niece for decompression before and after leaving that house. lol

I did the same thing with a housekeeper. Your's was weed mine was deep clean. I worked my bum off cleaning before she got here. Someone had to leave. It had to be her. Besides being THAT clean is just sick. I think of it this way, a little tiny bit of dust is probably good for the immune system to fight the flu. Look what I'm saving on doctors.

We were both starting the coffee this morning so no doubt your coffee could be toxic by now. lol You're going to be up all night with that mud. We're heading to Yellowstone Park and Montana in about a week. Can't wait. Hope you enjoyed your summer.

The rain in Spain...
by RScommon
not enough time to train Eva Palin. I bet Biden has her balancing a ball on her nose before it's all said and done. ARWK ARWK. Trained seal anyone?
Re: The rain in Spain...

Hard to tell if they get the question ahead of time. That will be the key. Biden can do it on the fly, for her it would be an impossible situation. I doubt if McCain will let her do it off the cuff without knowing the questions. Like you said there isn't enough time and to cover every possible scenerio would be impossible if we're going to be real about it.

If you find out before me, let me know what the format will be. That should tell the tale. She did great delivering a speech but no way she will be able to adlib from any knowledge base over serious US policy issues even with power sessions down to the wire.
