The debates are coming up soon and they have Palin sequestered from the reporters. I can understand that. The reality of her background has not allowed her to digest the mass of information she must know before sitting across from the extremely knowledgeable Biden on world affairs. I suspect if I had to hazard a guess I suspect she will try to bring the conversation to Domestic issues in a limited way. While he absolutely has more experience than she does, repeats of policy for McCain interrupted by what is considered her most known awareness, oil, may rule her day. Biden may not cooperate. Either way it is blue collar versus Madam Governor. If her lack of knowledge is going to show up, it will be there. If she handles it as she delivered the speech she may be in trouble. Of course if she is in trouble Biden will be a sexist. That is just the way it is in politics.
Obama and McCain will be much more interesting and that one I have no clue on. McCain does have the edge on time spent in Washington but how the state legislature combined with Washington impacts Obama's knowledge base is any one's guess. They both have discussable records so it will probably be the more interesting debate if you love politics. Kind of a David and Goliath remake of the ensconced Washington elite versus the newcomer.
Interesting that both debates (VP and President) have similar dynamics but it is the Presidential debate I am most interested in. The VP slot will only feed my morbid curiosity about how the much wider gap that exists on this one can be managed by the inexperienced Palin. She will be prepped to the max as a newcomer to US issues. She may hang with the big boys in a speech but live open debate is another question. Whether questions are pre-given to them may short circuit any learning about them if they can be prepped for the questions. I'd like to see her come out well enough that she is not dismantled by the press. Of course Biden can be a question if he sticks his foot in his mouth.
By all accounts she should have a tough, tough time but it really depends on the format.
