Parental Consent
by westadams

When you compare the rights of minors to the rights of adult women and adult blacks, your argument is offensive, condescending and ceases to make sense.

All minors, regardless of age, are "maturing" and your attempt to artificially create a group of 'almost-adults' is completely illiogical.

The idea that this 17 year old girl is able to make rational adult decisions is refuted by the fact that she had sex with and got pregnant by her 18 year old boyfriend.

If ever there is a time when a minor needs parental opinion and perspective, it is when the most important decisions of life are made. Choosing life, or not, clearly qualifies.

There is a difference between perspective and consent.

And beyond that, unintended pregnancy does not refute an ability to make rational, adult decisions. Plenty of rational adults accidentally wind up pregnant.

Getting pregnant is no accident. It is a potential side effect of having sex. Pregnancy was a risk that you took when you involved yourself in the action. If you aren't ready to possibly be pregnant, then you should not be having sex.
