So anybody find out what that $27 mil for Wasilla was for?

How did our great reformer Mrs. Palin use your tax dollars when she was mayor of Wasilla?

And how can you have a budget surplus (as Wasilla did when Palin took over), an annual budget of around $14 million, score a $27 million pile of federal cash, and STILL leave your town $22 million in debt?

Ah, yes: McCain/Palin, four more years of Bush.

She also raised taxes

But raised spending so much she needed to borrow to cover it. I know Mooseknuckle City Hall was remodeled, her office was frequently redecorated, and she built a money-pit of a sports complex. Why does a village of 5000 people need a $15 million sports complex?

Also, she fired all the experienced city bureaucrats (including the police chief), tried to fire the librarian because he refused to ban certain books, and eventually had to hire an administrator to do most of her job for her.

She sounds just like bush to me.

Republicans are good at that sort of

Yeap, perfect for the wingnuts to latch on to.

Of course she'll alienate the middle too which is a good thing cause the wingnuts weren't going to vote Obama anyway.

I'm trying to figure out just what in the hell my hometown would do with that kind of loot. It's got about 10,000 people, so it's comparable to Wasilla.

I am starting to grow a bit cynical about all this. Palin is an attractive woman with a forceful mien and this sham of a reputation. Knowing how well negative campaigning works, it sucks balls that we might have to find some salacious filthy story to sling at her campaign for it to lose momentum.

I don't know, maybe I shouldn't be so pessimistic; maybe Americans will see through her bullshit and realize she is nothing she claims to be.

It me or does Palin bear some resemblance to Bush? He took a surplus and turned into a mountain of debt. The DOJ was cleaned out. Violations against the first ammendment. There are some striking similarities.

She's not taking any interviews for a long long time.

It'll just be rumor and what people can perceive about her.

Hopefully it comes out in the wash that's she's a wingnuts wingnut

It's the republican way...
by Smiley1979

They value loyalty over competence, they consider secrecy an essential part of government, they love to trash the Constitution aside from the Second Amendment, and they have no idea how to run the government.

It's one of many reasons I'm a Democrat.

I can't argue with you and Palin appears to embody that philosophy the more we discover about her record.

Did you read this? Nick posted it. <link>

Interesting take on Palin as it relates to our discussion.

Yep...
by Smiley1979

It's ridiculous how few sources of information we have on palin. A website I like for concise info is ontheissues.com. Here's the mccain page:

<link>

Obama:

<link>

Biden:

<link>

and palin:

<link>

As sparse as the palin page is compared to the others, last week there were less than a dozen items on the entire page. People have been scrambling to find relevant information, but with all the gop disinformation being perpetuated it's not easy.

Thank you Smiley. I have the Obama link in my favorites already. It's very useful. I hadn't searched for the rest of them.

Palin's has a few holes in it. Foreign Policy, Free Trade, Immigration and Poverty. When McCain gives Palin her opinion, those pages will be filled in.

Good information is hard to come by. I'm looking forward to reading pieces from her hometown paper online. I've heard the press is up there doing the vetting McCain should have done.

MSNBC is outting her on the jet story and the bridge to nowhere. If other stations pick it up, those two pieces could be eliminated from Palin's narrative.
