Americans and our low political IQ (VOTE ON ISSUES PLEASE!)
by hawaiimike

Its disturbing how Americans and the national press has lost any sense they've had and jumped right into bed with the "compelling story" of Sarah Palin. What about the issues? What about thinking about which way the country will be taken with new leadership?

Things you may want to consider before voting.

Are you for or against abortion rights for women?

Do you believe its perfectly fair for corporate America to continue to get huge tax breaks?

Do you believe that the American health care system is and will continue to be affordable and easily accessible to Americans?

Do you believe that the war in Iraq should be open ended? Do you believe that America should have permanent bases in Iraq?

Do you believe that creationism and science should be taught in school alongside each other?

Do you believe that America needs a comprehensive energy policy or do you believe we should drill away and continue to be one of the worlds largest polluters and NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO RESOLVING OUR ENERGY PROBLEMS FOR THE FUTURE?

Look at the issues because if you care about what direction the country is headed, you'll LOOK AT THE ISSUES

before you fall in love with the candidate

DUMB ASS FELLOW CITIZENS!

You are right of course, but the Republicans can't run on the issues, they have admitted as much. What they want to run on is personalities. Sadly, many dummies still pick vote based on who "appeals" to them the most, not on the issues that have an impact on their lives. I have come to the conclusion that those who vote this way suffer from feelings of being powerless. They probably don't have much power in their lives, and feel their vote really won't make much difference, so why bother with the issues.

Are you for or against abortion rights for women?

I'm for the unborn's right to live.

Do you believe its perfectly fair for corporate America to continue to get huge tax breaks?

No, nor do I believe it's right to tax business' to death because they are successful.

Do you believe that the American health care system is and will continue to be affordable and easily accessible to Americans?

Not a perfect system, but yes.

Do you believe that the war in Iraq should be open ended? Do you believe that America should have permanent bases in Iraq?

It isn't and we won't.

Do you believe that creationism and science should be taught in school alongside each other?

No

Do you believe that America needs a comprehensive energy policy or do you believe we should drill away and continue to be one of the worlds largest polluters and NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO RESOLVING OUR ENERGY PROBLEMS FOR THE FUTURE?

I feel a comprehensive plan needs to include drilling.

How's the Maui Wowi Mike?

Well Morbius, it sounds like you're pretty satisfied with the Bush policies and decision making. 4 more years!

And now for a bonus! A cool female vice president!

Its Bush with a cool female vice president! Awesome!

DUMB ASS FELLOW CITIZENS!

You need to figure out how to work the underline feature before you start calling other people dumbasses. Here's a tip, if 90% of your post is underlined, then you are underlining too much.

I have to second your advice to look at the issues. I'm a woman. I wanted Hilary to win but Obama and Biden are way more in line with what is important to me. I'm not a fan of giving money to everyone for everything, but I care about the environment, women's rights and getting out of Iraq too much to ever side with the Palin.

And how can a "good" mother overlook the trashing of the environment??????? Where will her grandchildren grow up?

The reference to the pit bull is really you know whatting me off though. Pits are wonderful, sweet dogs. Absolutely NOTHING like Palin there. Don't insult the pit bull that way, please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morbius seems to be a little too focused on the weed. Go ahead and get stoned man. Its a free country. You can buy a ticket to Maui & test the weed for yourself if you like. Seems like your itching for some ganja.

I'll remember to stop underlining so often, as it distracts us from the real issues like whether or not the marijuana is good in Hawaii.

"Seems like your itching for some ganja."

Seems like before you decide to condescend publicly about the intelligence of others you should first figure out how to properly construct a contraction usually mastered in elementary school.

Are you for or against abortion rights for women?

Are you for or against a baby's right to live?

Do you believe its perfectly fair for corporate America to continue to get huge tax breaks?

Do you believe it's "perfectly fair" for someone making a better living than you to pay considerable more in taxes? Name something in life that is "perfectly fair."

Do you believe that the American health care system is and will continue to be affordable and easily accessible to Americans?

Do you believe American health care is of the highest quality in the world? Do you want to keep it that way?

Do you believe that the war in Iraq should be open ended? Do you believe that America should have permanent bases in Iraq?

Do you believe the war in Iraq is open-ended? Do you believe America should remain the "world police?"

Do you believe that creationism and science should be taught in school alongside each other?

Do you believe that is the biggest issue concerning public schools right now? Have you been in a school lately? Do you believe in tolerance of all beliefs, or just those other than Christian?

Do you believe that America needs a comprehensive energy policy or do you believe we should drill away and continue to be one of the worlds largest polluters and NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO RESOLVING OUR ENERGY PROBLEMS FOR THE FUTURE?

Do you know anyone that's proposed solely "drilling away" as a solution? Do you realize that Texas, a solidly red state, has two of the largest wind farms in the world - and oil? We can do both.

Look at the issues because if you care about what direction the country is headed, you'll LOOK AT THE ISSUES before you fall in love with the candidate.

DUMB ASS FELLOW CITIZENS!

Thanks for assuring me of my DUMB ASS citizenship. I had suspected that my Christian values, freedom from government control of my finances and healthcare, usage of birth control, and support of our troops made me a DUMB ASS, but now I know. I'll be sure to register with the DUMB ASS party before I vote, and make sure the future of my DUMB ASS children is full of "the issues." As I teach at the public school where I work, I'll spread DUMB ASSEDNESS so that generations of DUMB ASSES will continue to believe that the government will solve all of their DUMB ASS problems.

Proved my point chump, you can't focus on anything . You can't even find the right post to reply to.

Morbius:

Typical republican. From the top down and from the representatives to the represented, republicans continue to attempt to distract people from the actual issues that we are facing with petty insults.

Morbius, grow up and bring something new and useful to the dialogue or go play.

Your Christian values do not make you a dumbass. Nor do your other beliefs. What makes you a dumbass is believing that the leadership of the GOP in any way really shares your values.

The GOP's pandering to people like yourself that has sent our country (that you fetishize) into a tailspin. The GOP absolutely believes in the government solving problems, in fact the government has been more wasteful and grown bigger under their rule the past 8 years than ever before. If you don't see that you are just uninformed and buying into their media narrative that has nothing to do with reality.

I am always amazed every time I see yet more evidence of the religious right's persecution complex, after "their" guy and party have controlled the country and dominated the "values" discussion for nearly a decade.

News flash -- you don't have to be Republican to be Christian. Many American Christians aren't. hawaiimike never even mentioned your faith at all in his original post, DUMB ASS. Strange combination of paranoia and arrogance you've got there. Would Jesus talk like that? Go pray on it.
