I like her.

Why does "feminist" have to mean a bra-burning, pro-choice advocating, man hating, woman?

I'm a stay at home mom, and I absolutely consider myself a feminist. I have two degrees, and gave up a successful career to stay home with my children. Why? Because that's the choice that I thought was best for my children. My choice.

To me the feminist movement was a call for equality, to give women choices in their careers and lives, not female domination. The feminazis have taken things a little over the top for me.

I like Sarah Palin...she's a mom, and she's feisty. Nothing wrong with that. I think she has great values, and I find her very refreshing, frankly. There has been a lot of talk about how "she's no Hillary"...to which I reply...thank goodness. I don't want a "hillary" in office.

I also like Obama...I find him also very refreshing. But, I will probably vote for McCain. I like his resume.

I agree, the feminist movement is about choice, a woman a stay home or work, she can have kid or not, she can have a safe, legal abortion or not...CHOICE. McCain and Palin do not believe in CHOICE. Nor does McCain believe in equal pay for equal work, at least not for women.

You consider yourself a feminist but will vote for someone who will overturn Roe vs. Wade? Do you have daughters? Are you willing to vote away THEIR choice? Doesn't sound like a feminist to me.

I would respectfully suggest that in addition to viewing her speech, you take a look at Ms. Palin's actual record in office, both as Governor and as Mayor. Both are quite short, but as Mayor she got to make a number of decisions and you might approve of those decisions, and then again might not. There's a reason why she's running against the press: what she's running against is her own record.

Dick Cheney is also "feisty." Do you want another one like him?

By your use of the word feminazi I guess you must be listening to Rush Limbaugh. I am an Independent who has voted both for Republicans and Democrats. I think Limbaugh is the reason our political system has become so poisonous and Palin is simply a Rush Limbaugh in skirts. I too am a stay at home Mom but I saw nothing in Sarah Palin's life that was even similar to my own. I am pro-life but I don't believe my religious beliefs should decide this issue for everyone. I also believe as a pro-lifer that one way to stop abortions is to provide birth control to young women and men whenever possible. Palin is against birth control, sex education etc. Her daughter is now pregnant. As far as I can see she is simply all talk and no action, yet again. Finally, while I was one of the stupid people who fell for Bush in 2000 because I believed in his "family values" crap, I won't be fooled again. I want a President who's smarter than I am. I don't want a President who is "just like me."

You like her. Obviously you have online degrees from a diploma mill. This a fundie nutter who operates in another reality. The late Helen Chenoweth of Idaho would amount to the same thing. "Liking" Obama merely means you want appear untroll-like. Go back to your children, as they need you more than we do.

Respectfully, feminist doesn't mean that and never has. Bra-burning has reflected any part of the movement for a good 30 years. I agree with your view of feminism, that it means equality and choice.

Hillary Clinton ran as a feminist; is she bra-burning, man-hating? I didn't want Hillary in the WH either, but it had nothing to do with gender.

I personally don't share Palin's values but aside from that, I am very uncomfortable with the hard-right evangelical fundamentalism she embraces and I do not think that values are a substitute for the use of intellect or reason. There is also the question of the authoritarian strain that seems to emerge when you try to apply religious principal and organization to human organizations such countries.

As for McCain's resume, I would point out that he has been a Senator for many years and has no executive experience. I can't argue with his POW experience as moving and courageous, but I also can't see its particular relevance.

Entj4, I, too, consider myself a feminist, and I really like Governor Palin. Of course, I agree with her regarding the issues, too - - so that probably helps. But my ISSUES include several more topics than the simple one about whether or not I can kill my kids if I want to. Please be intellectually honest, my dear - - you know that no one is going to "overturn Roe v. Wade." That's nothing but a liberal (progressive?) talking point. The abortion issue comes down to whether or not one believes in infanticide, and frankly, I believe that is up to the people involved in the potential killing. Myself, I wouldn't do it, but I have no interest in telling you whether or not you can kill your children. That's up to you. In my humble opinion, the Single Issue Voter is intellectually challenged and is a fear-monger.

I have a daughter, and it is my fervent prayer that if she becomes pregnant - - whether in or out of marriage - - she will understand that she has been entrusted with a gift from the Creator that should be treasured and loved - - NOT to be killed because it is (in the words of THE ONE---Obama) "a burden." Have we not evolved past such things yet? Sadly, it seems not (sigh....)
