Change McCain
by marylb

Last night was an odd one. The convention kind of limped close. McCain seemed to change tactics for the speech trying to be Bush, trying to be Obama and trying to be the candidate of change by openly stealing it. The hat of change doesn't fit when the methods of change are George Bush's old campaign pet issue solutions (see school choice and privatized SS as examples.) Although the drumbeat throughout the campaign seemed to be "War" "Fear" and chest beating, McCain came out as a lamb. He added in some of Obama's solutions and made weak attempts to parse Obama as being against things Obama is not against. He also seemed to try and theme himself as Sarah or elevate the duo as a unit that somehow lost him at one point. He played the Sarah experience card with a straight face so his acting skills were intact. All in all it was a little strange. He seemed to have the wind out of his sails and to be truthful while I appreciated the removal of fear mongering perhaps what he replaced it with was just an old man, unsure of himself and his message. Perhaps the massive gap between what appeared to be the theme of this convention and the selection of a far right VP candidate set him up for failure when he brought the convention to a halt by dedicating his speech to the moderate crossover vote attempt. What came across was a man confused about who he wanted to reach and who he wanted to be. When you play with being a camileon this may be the end results at the exact wrong time.

Blame my coffee not kicking in. ;)

I hate that when that happens.

you and Doubter are the king and queen of posting hit and run chum designed to sound like its coming from the middle or from those "former Republicans" that no one seems to be able to locate in real life, but did you really think we would expect anything other than declarations of victory for your baby Geezus Barack? The very definition of a cult is a complete, and collective, inability to acknowledge that those on the outside have any valid points to make at all.
You are forgiven then.

I have piles of floor sweepings and bags of trash sitting exactly where they were yesterday when the coffee pot ran out. In fact, I belief it is time for some now.

Do you have an opinion on the speech? Just curious. If so this would be the thread to give an opinion about the speech on. Did you get the sense that something was amiss as well?

Try sticking to the subject for a change. I'd really like to know what your feelings were.

McCains not the greatest public speaker

but then again, I don't find your messiah all that inspiring either. He shifts his beady little eyes around and says "uhhh" too much......but then again, I'm not a member of the cult on either side....

"sarge" only does personal attacks. No debate, just a top post now and again followed by personal attacks on any who reply. Whoever is paying him is not getting their money's worth...

"trying to be Obama and trying to be the candidate of change by openly stealing it."

Do you think Obama stole "candidate of change" from Little George?

As for "trying to be Obama," I see Obama trying to be Little George, which is why I have no interest in him. Should he repent and confess his error on FISA, Patriot Act, funding the Blunders, and further intervention in the ME, as well as more tax cuts in time of deficit and his increased spending plans, I'll vote for him.

C'mon Gilligan......
