Barack Obama likes to tout his efforts as a "community organizer" in South Chicago's Altgeld Gardens as director of the Developing Communities Project (DCP) for three years - helping the poor find jobs, helping set up a job training program, a college preparatory tutoring program, and a tenants' rights organization.

At about the same time, Cindy Lou Hensley received an MA in special education from the University of Southern California where she participated in a therapy pilot program that laid the way for a standard treatment for children with severe disabilities. Declining a role in the family business, she then began a special education teaching career working with children with Down syndrome and other disabilities at Agua Fria High School in Avondale, Arizona.

In 1988, inspired by substandard medical facilities on Truk Lagoon, she founded the American Voluntary Medical Team (AVMT), It was a non-profit organization that organized trips for doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel to provide emergency medical care to disaster-struck or war-torn third-world areas such as Micronesia, Vietnam, Kuwait, Iraq, Nicaragua, India, Bangladesh and El Salvador.

She led 55 of these missions over the next seven years. AVMT also supplied treatment to poor sick children around the world. In 1993, Cindy McCain and AVMT were honored with an award from Food for the Hungry.

Cindy McCain's dad, Cindy McCain and Barack Obama can start somewhere, even humble beginnings and go someplace. Cindy's dad could get rich selling beer so she could get some help finding bucks (loans, investments) for her own work. I would imagine her dad and his connections in the millionaire world helped secure some funding and contributions to Cindy McCain's work. Cindy decided to not run for President of the U.S. this year even though she married a man that was marreid when they met and fell in love and IS running for President. Barack Obama like Cindy's dad, took a different route than selling beer and now finds himself the Democratic nominee for president of the nation. I suppse we could look at Michelle Obama too if we're looking at spouses now.

What I want to know is what happened to Carol McCain in all the pretty pictures of "good", "honorable" and "Godly" people? She was a John McCain spouse too.

Actually Carol McCain continues to "stand by her man" despite what her ex-husband did and attributed it to.

"Sound marriages can be hard to recover after great time and distance have separated a husband and wife. We are different people when we reunite," McCain wrote. "But my marriage's collapse was attributable to my own selfishness and immaturity more than it was to Vietnam, and I cannot escape blame by pointing a finger at the war. The blame was entirely mine."

"The breakup of our marriage was not caused by my accident or Vietnam or any of those things. I don't know that it might not have happened if John had never been gone. I attribute it more to John turning 40 and wanting to be 25 again than I do to anything else."

in 1976 - three years before he met Cindy in Hawaii, and their marriage began to fall apart for which McCain accepts the blame. McCain divorced Carol in 1980. The settlement included two houses, and financial support for her ongoing medical treatments. They remain on good terms.

In John McCain's memoir, Worth the Fighting For, he fudged the chronology of his divorce from original wife Carol McCain and subsequent marriage to Cindy Helmsley, the beer-distribution heiress who is now his hopeful First Lady. According to the Los Angeles Times, McCain's book claims he was separated from Carol when he began dating Cindy, but his divorce did not "become final" until February 1980. Yet according to legal records, he only filed for divorce halfway through that month.

In those divorce papers, he said that he had "cohabited" with Carol until January 7, 1980. But he'd been dating Cindy since he met her in April 1979 (when she was 24 and he was 42), which means he wasn't, in fact, separated from Carol before he took up with Cindy. Not by a long shot.

In fact, when McCain obtained a marriage license to marry Cindy, on March 6, 1980, he was still married to Carol — and would be for nearly a month longer.

What has she done to relive the suffering caused by the empire that she received all her monies from?

HINT: Laughed at the suffering while going shopping.....

She thinks that because she lives in an affluent US location (the state of the elite) that America is exempt from poverty, hunger, illness, and the rest of the ball of wax.

Anyone who can charge a half million dollars on her credit card in one day, while one of the kids charges thousands more,, cannot comprehend that those things exist right here, much closer to her, than her trips to visit those suffering the same misfortune, in foreign countries.

You know what they say....'it's right under your nose', and in her case, not possible to see.
