I don't drive my pickup probably two times a month, and that is five miles into town, and five miles back, plus only what is necessary IN town. So I'm not that worried about it, but boy, do I feel for those who HAVE to drive...to work every day, some of them for miles and miles.
I have no idea what propane is at the present time, as I have natural gas here at my house. I can tell you for sure what my 'even pay' plan costs me...$106.00 per month, year round, and I look for that to go up at the next adjustment point.
I had a phone call from a friend of mine in New York state, this past week. Constance and I were discussing everything, naturally. HER 'even pay' (budget plan) runs her a bit OVER $400 PER MONTH...for heating oil. She told me of an elderly woman she knew, on a fixed income, who was paying over $800 per month, and the poor thing called the supplier and told them not to bring her any more...that from now on, she would just try and purchase a 'little bit' at a time, and pay as she went. Isn't that pathetic?! I feel guilty bitching about my $106 a month here at my house.
What will happen to people like that old woman this coming winter? New York winters can be rough...I spent 8 years there as a kid, so I know first hand, and we were in agabout the middle of the state. Up state is one of the coldest places inside the US borders!
