Sarah Palin

Comparing Sarah Palin to a pig feeding at a trough is absolutely unprofessional. No "journalist" would ever have referred to Al Gore, John McCain, Ronald Reagan, etc. or any other male politician as such. She used all she had in Alaska to bring in funding for the people, that is her job as the Governor of that State, so basically all this article proves is that she was good at her job. Oh, and let's not bring up her husban'ds DUI that happened 22 years ago. Al Gore's son got picked up for marijuana possession and nobody cared- it was just a kid being a kid. The double standard in journalism is nauseating.

Yea, the double standard is nauseating. Every time a woman politician is critizised, it is "sexism, sexism, sexism". The article didn't mention a word about her husbands DUI!!!!! You were the one who interjected that into the conversation.

Well the point Noah was making is this, ( and about 82% of Americans get it). Republicans are the biggest hypocrites God ever breathed breath into. It has nothing to do with gender or race, a lie is a lie. When Hillary said she was shot at in Bosnia, the press, rightly so exposed the lie for what it was. If anyone takes the national stage, male or female, they should be prepared to have their entire life exposed, if she doesn't like that, then she should go back to being Governor of Alaska.

You want double standards? How about Republicans and Evangelicals talking about family values, while some of them are trying to screw 16 year old kids? Or what about the pastor who was a leader in the Evangelical movement who it turns out not only had a gay lover, but also did meth with him?

Americans are a forgiving people. I mean come on, we put up with Clinton and Monica, and George Bush is still not incarcerated even though he lied about the whole damned war. What Americans are getting sick of if hypocrisy. Thats why when it came out that Elliot Spitzer was having an affair with a prostitute, even die hard democrats wanted him gone. Why? He was known to always be so damned self righteous.

We will accept a gay Congressman like Barney Frank, but what we won't tolerate anymore is self righteous hypocrites who think they are better than everyone else.

The Republicans have dumped on the American people and used the Constitution for toilet paper for 8 years. Time for all of them to find new careers.

Show me one article where Obama is treated so hatefully. You democrats did it to your own! Hilary Clinton! I don't even like her that much but she would have been a better candidate than Obama. What? Threatened by a woman who can raise a family and be the VP? Neanderthal!

You have to think of Slate as news (requiring some measure of objectivity) and news analysis (bald opinion pieces on news), just like FoxNews ... here you get incredibly rude pinheads like Noah and Shafer, on Fox you get O'Reilly and Hannity. The only difference is that Noah et al. are more vile.

Oh 82% of American understand? His reporting is absolutely inaccurate. Some statistics are from when she wasn't even Governor. To hate someone just because they are Republican is absurd. I am pro-choice and a Republican. So she feels a different way, big deal, but we get caught up in stuff that really doesn't matter. What matters is we have a war to deal with, or did you forget that?

If you are pro-choice, do NOT vote for McCain-Palin. Palin is definately ANTI-choice.

I don't hate McCain, but I do not like almost anything that Sarah Palin stands for. Any self-respecting pro-choicer Republican should not vote for a ticket with Palin on it. Ask yourself this: why isn't Olympia Snow, a woman Republican with tons of experience, not a better VP pick for McCain?

I know! I know! Olympia Snow is pro-choice.

has it ever occurred to you that republicans may for on a candidate based on more than one issue or are you projecting again?

Yeah, 82% is about right. 45-50% who vote Dem, another 5% who vote indie/undecided, and 25% who see the cracks and the holes and the duct tape but root for the Republican bird anyway because it's their home team.
