Obama and Carter, anyone seeing this connection yet???
by evensteven

The last time we stared at a Congress run by liberals and a liberal President Carter, we saw an economy that was left in shambles far worse than we have today.

Jimmy and the Congress brought us DOUBLE DIGIT unemployment, INTEREST RATES nearing 20% and long gas lines.

Am I the only one seeing this in our future? What astounds me is why the McCain Campaign hasn't??

Well, look at what Bill Clinton did! He certainly did a very good job with the economy. That is a fact.

"Obama and Carter, anyone seeing this connection yet???"

No, because it's in your head.

Why would I be looking in your head? :-P

First, Clinton was not a liberal
by evensteven

Obama is. That's a fact. His voting record proves that! When he did vote that is!!!

Secondly, and I suggest you go back to the books. It was a REPUBLICAN Congress that balanced the budgets with Clinton, but only after Clinton vetoed the first two because he didn't like the amount of spending reductions being given to him. Then, to his credit , he then finally signed the budgets.

I see more of a connection between Carter and Bush. Carter was incredibly incompetent and ill prepared to be President. Sounds like the last eight years.
Paul Volcker Has Endorsed Obama.
by LeRoy_Was_Here

Do you even know who Paul Volcker is?

HE is the guy who stopped the double digit inflation of the late 1970s, who prevented America from going into a very serious inflationary spiral.

It sure as hell wasn't Ronald Reagan.

Word.

And notice that evensteven doesn't want to talk about what happened when we had a republican president and republican congress. That was when we kissed balanced budgets goodbye again.

Whoa, hold the phone...

Maybe you should go back to the books. The Republican Congress did no such thing. The books have never been balanced, except by "creative" bookkeeping. And it was under Republican administrations (Reagan and King Bush I) that a record deficit was generated. A deficit that was reduced by a third during the Clinton years. And if you think that was Congress's doing, I have a bridge to sell you.

Funny thing...under Bush Lite, the deficit is back and well...as a matter of fact, it far surpassed that of his mentors' tenures. Mostly during a Republican-controlled Congress I might add.

Hey Slick, I gave Clinton credit for it. But, just like a demonkeycrat, they never want to reciprocate.

Why is it so difficult for you guys to admit when something goes right for republicans. Whether it be with a democrat of republican in the White House? Jesus, and you wonder why my view of you assholes is jaded???

Reagan did what he had to do. This country was in fucking turmoil after Carter left office and Reagan knew he had to do something, anything, to get this country thinking it could succeed again. You bitch about the debt created by him, fine. But, again, just as I give Clinton credit for his working with the republicans, you need to also blame the democratic Congress for that debt as well.

I thought it was just deep-seated anger-management issues combined with a desperate need from attention, probably brought on when the liberal girl in your high school class turned you down for the prom.

Again, I'll admit...

That Bush II and the republican Congress fucked things up. But will you also admit that the Democratic Congress has done FUCKING NOTHING for the last two years.

Also, Cater and a democratic Congress sent interest rates to nearly 20% and unenployment into the double digits.

God MAN, you can't see what Obama plans to do to small businesses will result in the same failed policies! If you work for a small business(50 employees or less) his tax proposals will put you in the unemployment line!! WAKE UP!!!

Now we'll see who's honest and who's thw party hack!
