A Family Feud

Driving a snow mobile when out on Workman's Comp. horrors!!!!! Would you do that?

Long-Standing Feud in Alaska Embroils Palin <link> James V. Grimaldi and Kimberly Kindy, The Washington Post: "For the past several years, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, has been embroiled in a bitter family feud that has drawn in the state police, the attorney general, the governor's office and the state legislature."

How difficult is a snowmobile to drive, Unebug? Not being facetious here, but being a Southern boy, I fortunately don't see a lot of the wet, white bullshit. If it's a difficult, physicallly taxing vehicle to drive, perhaps grounds for a fradulent workers comp case.

The governor was reaching for turning him in for this though.

Interesting read though, and a hard call to make. A legitimate grievance on Palin's part here, but also indications of allowing her personal malice to spill over into her public life.

Though in her case, not without very good reason, it would seem.

Hopefully, none of this bullshit will become a factor in the campaign, and the woman can be judged on her political merits, or lack there of.

Which, from what little I've seen and read, would seem to be a mixed bag.

Not the best or worst politician to ever come down the pike.

But still a politician.

Which is one strike against her.

I'll try to be a little more objective on matters of substance.

Having worked with my body and seeing work man's comp in action I feel I could have an honest opinion. . I never took any but it was a good benefit. Needed. Working 40 hours doing something can be taxing to the muscles. Fifteen minutes of a snow mobile ride could be just exercise and good therapy. It would depend on the injury. People have to be flexible in their judgement of others especially a family member. Your comments were good. Comparing her to Hillary for running the country is mind boggling. Republicans do not believe in big government and McCain must be making a statement. Let the Corporations rule and let the lady be just a figure head like Bush . Cheney and the Neocons ruled; they had an agenda and Bush just went along between vacations. What we saw is what we got and the lady could do the same if the public likes that.

Actually the lady would seem to have a few liberal tendencies. She passed legislation to additionally tax the petroleum industry in Alaska, and would probably be agreeable to do the same at the federal level.

McCain used to oppose any additional taxation on the oil industry, but would now seem to be waffling on the stance as well.

If McCain is elected, corporations may find that they do not rule this prsident as they alledgedly did Bush. Or his veep, if McCain should become incapacitated and she assumes the presidency.

The lady would seem to be a mixed bag, which in itself is not a bad thing. Hopefully she does possess more integrity than HIllary Clinton, though that is something that wouldn't be hard to match.

All in all, too early to get a solid feel on her. She seems to have her assets and liabilities.

Just as all of us do.

I believe I heard on Bill Moyers she is related to the Oil Industry, maybe Daddy. About her taking steps to tax the oil ; that sounds like good politics but just how much. Would it be just a token tax to get votes?
Re: A Family Feud

Actually, I read somehow that petroleum was already pretty heavily taxed. I don't know at what percentage, but it's said that Uncle Sam already takes a pretty hefty bite out of their ass.

This would be a better subject for Prag, who is an expert on economics, to address.

The fact that Palin was inclined to impose addditional tax on the oil indusdry in Alaska though would seem to break her out of the tradional mode of conservatism that we've witnessed for the past several years.

I just heard on the news that her youngest child was in fact her 17 year old daughter's child, and that she had been concealing the fact.

What will be made of this information, if the information is correct, is anybody's guess. Natural enough for a mother to want to protect her daughter's reputation, but questions of honesty and integrity could be raised here.

At least by the Democrats anyhow.

Probably has no real relevance to her ability to govern. Though I'm given pause to wonder if the lady had any idea of what she was letting herself in for when she accepted McCain's offer to be his vice president.

All I can say to Sarah Palin is welcome to life underneath the microscope.

I had not gotten the idea that her younest was really her daughters. Something was said about the 17 year old would marry the father and they would grow up fast. At least the child was not aborted; good for the Christian Right Wait a minute,I heard that her youngest was Mongoloid or something wrong. Maybe the wrong was out of wed-lock. Well interesting. It is pretty cool that Bush is not even going to the Republican Convention. Something about the hurricane. This Presidency has been a crying shame. Bush would make a speech and the audience was hand picked, things were so bad. Do you think the media has learned anything?

Oh, I agree that the presidency has been a crying shame. That's why we have elections every four years.

May we choose a little more wisely this time around.

As for the media, truly America's whores and stooges. With very few exceptions, (Anthony, I am thinking of you as an exception) they will sell out either at their owner's behest, or for the sake of their ratings.

It is WE, THE PEOPLE, that I wish would develop some wisdom and enlightenment.

But singing swine might be easier to come by.

We really do get what we deserve.

As for snow machines

To answer your question, they are not what I call idiot proof easy to drive.

It's really not the machine, it's the terrain. If the terrain is smarter than your driving, they are extremely dangerous.

Re: As for snow machines

Thanks, man.

The same could probably be said of any vehicle. Initially, one slows down and gets used to one's vehicle, and the terrain. After which, it's a matter of the operator's skill and common sense.

I don't know if I've ever seen anything in my life that's idiot proof.
