The rich just don't get it.

The fact that John McCain doesn't know how many houses he owns (which means how rich he is) shows his distance from the common man. It's no different from Phil Graham calling the American people "whiners."
I've read articles that describe the lifestyles of Washington politicians and the lobbyists that woo them. Every day of the week they enjoy $100 meals at the best restaurants available. They sleep in the best condominiums, play golf on the best courses... etc. etc. Compare this lifestyle to the average guy (who may or may not have a job) who has to decide whether to indulge and spend $20 at the Olive Garden on Saturday night. Or the mom who wants to buy her kids some new shoes but can't quite include them in her budget this week.
How can such men as McCain and Graham understand the daily concerns of the common people? How can they bridge the gap? They probably can't and it's obvious they are not trying anyway. Instead they just want the lowly peons to shut up and stop questioning them.
The wealthy conservative elite simply don't understand or care about how most people live. They only care about amassing more wealth and staying in power, thus they support McCain and Graham. "I want mine, everyone else can go to hell" seems to be the Republican motto these days.
I can only hope that most rich conservatives are not as callous as the typical Washington politician.
