Wow. I just don't know where to start with this one.

But thanks for the link!

I swear to God, Republicans are truly fucked up people. What the hell happened to a once Grand Ole Party? What a joke.

This story is no bigger than John Edwards.

It does call into question the vetting process.

I wonder if she told Sen. McCain during their brief meeting.

I wonder if anyone asked.... "Is there anything we should know that might embarrass us?"

Does this embarrass the Republicans?

Seriously, does anyone really give a shit that Bristol Palin is pregnant?

I sure don't.

five months pregnant?

If you lied and covered it up once, got caught, and she got pregnant again; why not just use the 2nd confession to cover the first Lie? It's not like anyone is going to check on just how many months pregnant the daughter is at this point. And you can't hide this one.
I do.

I have two daughers, 19 and 17. We have been telling them over and over again not to have sex, if they do, be careful and to not ever get pregnant. Of course, they find a way to have sex but if they then also think, "what the hell, I can get pregnant too, its not that big a deal", then its a really, really big deal. Its not 1951 dude, getting pregnant at age 17 and getting married is not a great way to start off life. Especially for a young lady.

When a family is fecund there is no stop gap measure that will work. And sisters have a way of following in each other's missteps..

Yeah, right. Thanks for the lecture Woolley.

Now, age of consent in Alaska is 16.

Please tell me why this is a big story?

What the fuck does this have to do with Sarah Palin's ability or inability to be VP?

What does this have to do with the future of the US?

Good grief.

People sure are distracted by shiny objects these days.

Why this is important.

This goes back to McCain's impulsiveness and motivation. McCain wanted Lieberman as his running mate, but his aides rebelled--they said the churchies would go nuts. Same deal with Ridge, another McCain favorite. He picked Palin, according to his aides, because he wanted to "shake up" the race--not because she was qualified. He, and his campaign, did little or no vetting of Palin--nobody in Alaska will admit to having been contacted by the McCain campaign. How difficult was it going to be to find out that there were family problems in the Palin household. Indeed, why didn't Palin volunteer this information (yeah, yeah, I know--the McCain campaign claims they knew it--I believe 'em too, I really do) This is a guy who keeps claiming that he wants to put the "Country First," but who, instead, made an impulsive pick of his vice president for purely political reasons. This guy wants to put an unvetted, untested right-wing wackaloon a seventy-two-year-old heartbeat away from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together has to see that this isn't putting the country first.

I don't know shit, but...

here's what I think, for whatever it's worth.

When Sarah Palin realized her cover-up was coming apart, she devised a cover-up to the cover-up. This time she's knocked up herself and plans to pass off the baby as her daughter's. Expect an unusually petite Bristol prancing around stage in the coming months, while Sarah will have the lectern fitted to her waist permanently. Her water will probably break during the debate with Biden, but she will bite her lips and hold it for 36 hours as Joe wraps up his speech (people watching on TV will attribute the grimace to Biden overdose). Finally, she'll rush off to deliver on the back seat of Karl Rove's Oldsmobile, midwifed by McCain's illegitimate black daughter and Monica Lewinsky.

this (from Reuters version of story):

Senior McCain campaign officials said McCain knew of the daughter's pregnancy when he selected Palin last week as his vice presidential running mate, deciding that it did not disqualify the 44-year-old governor in any way . . .

(so we can proceed to mercilessly mock your terminal gullibility).

I found this bit of anonymous McSame "senior aide" spin just hilariously priceless (emphasis added):

"The despicable rumors that have been spread by liberal blogs, some even with Barack Obama's name in them [good luck finding a "liberal blog" WITHOUT Obama's "name in" it!], is a real anchor around the Democratic ticket, pulling them down in the mud in a way that certainly juxtaposes themselves against their 'campaign of change,'" a senior aide said.

And I thought I understood what "desperation" meant. Not really, not 'til now.

And I thought I'd seen the archetypal trainwreck here on BoTF. Not really, not 'til now.

If you cannot figure this out,

forget it. As for it being an issue in the election, how about family values, sex education, etc. Its just one more note of hypocracy to deal with yet again. Sorry you don't like lectures about parenting teenage daughters, guess you just have to be there to understand it.

sheer poetry. All's fair in politics, but it is subject to poetic justic.
