Palin as Hillary substitute
by Futuregrandma
McCain chose Palin for 2 reasons: to solidify his conservative base, which he did not have and to try to attract unhappy Hillary Clinton supporters. He has succeeded on the first one. Reading some posts, it appears it may succeed on some level on the second. However, if he gets the Hillary supporters who merely wanted a woman to reach a first, be it vice president or president, that should be only a small percentage of women. These are not even the ones that Hillary was addressing when she asked if women were voting for her or for the democratic ideals of supporting the invisible part of society, those least able to look out for their interests, those in Iraq serving the U.S., etc. True Hillary supporters care about what she cares about: universal health care, are pro-choice, care about the working people in America, who believe that no child left behind has not advanced our children, care about the environment that will be left for the next generation, saving the student loan program--things that are not on the top of the Republican party's list. Whoever wins this election affects future generations through Supreme Court selections. If you label yourself a feminist, a liberal, a Democrat, a Hillary supporter, then not voting if you don't like Obama shows more character than voting for a party that thinks women are interchangeable and able to be manipulated. A vote of this type tarnishes Hillary's place in history and you may get your "first" but when history looks back, how will your children, grandchildren see it?

A Palin Vice Presidency would be to women what Alberto Gonzalez was to Latinos: a disgrace.

I for one would have preferred to defer George W. Bush's "first" to a more respectable candidate later on down the line, but Alberto Gonzalez's long shadow will long hang over the Latino community.

Palin would bring equal shame to women the world over, and self-centered pedanctic PUMAs would well remember that should they cast their treasonous votes for a McCain/Palin ticket.

I am not sure you know the meaning of treason.

McCain's choice of Palin as his running mate should enrage women of every stripe. He is using her as a tool to get a few votes and cares nothing for her as a human being. He cares nothing for the country, either. His only agenda was to entice a few diehard Hillary supporters and steal a little thunder from Barack's post-convention bounce. Don't let him use her as he did his first wife, and discard her like trash. Sarah Palin does not deserve the company of such a scumbag.

If you were over 65 and running for Pres, you'd want your illegitimate daughter as your VP too ! It's not rocket-science ! Geez !
