Dahlia Litwack doesn't know what VP does
by jmcsby5

"I am not sure what "experience" even means when it comes to the vice presidency."

Ahahahahahaha. Let me give you as hint: if anything happens to the President of the United States, the Vice-President becomes President. Get it? Therefore, the Vice-President needs to be ready to be President on day one, just in case. this si especially true if if, I don't know, say the President is really, really old.

Yes, that being president on
by Demcon

day one thing is why many democrats are looking at the prospect of electing first term U.S. Senator Barack Obama who voted present for much of that time . . . and wincing. Wouldn't it have been better for the nation if the DNC had supported Hillary Clinton, since she actually was ready to be an effective president from day one?

Now if one must have a questionable choice on the scale of experience I think I have to give the nod to the republicans, who demonstrated the wisdom of putting their selection in the vp slot rather than leading their party; and to put the cap on it, they selected a woman for vp with more actual and meaningful executive experience as a reform politician than Barack Obama possesses.

Isn't it stunning that the republicans could find a bright and capable woman to run as vp but that Obama and the DNC could not?

1. Obviously the primary voters felt more comfortable with BO on day one. News to Dem Con: Hillary lost he primary.

2. You're logic is twisted. By selecting whom you say is "questionable" for the most important job in the world, you are either A) conceding that McCain's decision-making skills are atrocious to put someone who may be unqualified a heartbeat away from the Presidency, or B) admitting that Obama is indeed qualified.

Harry Truman had no clue what was happening in the Presidency and he turned out to be fair to good. Some historians say excellent. (Come to think about it Harry and Sarah have some similarities in their backgrounds; small town nobodies dealing with crooks, non-political spouses.)

Well, OK. So you are admitting that, like Truman, Obama'a experience may well not prevent him from being an incredibly successful President? I agree.
Harry Truman distinguished himself beforehand
by old new lefty
by being a US Senator for many years, and by leading a one man fight against corruption in military contracts in WW II. This was the reason why he was chosen as VP. (Oh, that W had a Harry Truman for our corruption in the current war). While he was somewhat in the dark when FDR died, Truman had infinitely more experence than Sarah Palin.
