Attempting to be objective

I am a Soldier

I am proud to be a Soldier, and serve the President of the United States and her people (forgive the sexist statement please)

I don't vote as a convaluted way of thinking that it will jeorpardize my service to the President of the country I sacrifice for. (Honestly, liberals are the ones that put me down for this but I think of them as sheep and take it like they eat grass.)

So I am going to through my say into this and let yo rip it apart (not going to hurt my feelings).

Experience: This is a weird situation. Biden and McCain I consider even. (Loser-Obama)

Having to compare VP to the P nomination for experience is a loser for one of the nominees.

Obama to Palin I consider even with maybe a slight edge to Palin (loser Obama).

I give the edge to Palin just because she is closer to oil and its workings. Take what you want from this.

Record: Obama to McCain. McCain wins. No suprise, he has a record.

Biden to Palin: Biden wins just for time. Biden is head of national security but don't count Palin out here. Govenor is a big deal ask former President Clinton.

Decision making Obama vs. McCain. Gotta go with McCain. He stood up against Bush on way too many issues and Obama boted absent of too many crucial issues.

Biden vs. Palin winner Biden. Palin just plain has not been in politics as long as Biden. Although Biden is from a small state you have to give the man credit for standing up. Palin has too just not as long.

Against establishment. No doubt McCain. He stood up to Bush and got told by Conservative radio critics to just join the Democrats already. Obama is so far right he would be a terrorist if he was in the Republican party. Sorry all, he is an extreme and is not anywhere near the middle.

Biden and Palin. Gotta go with Palin. Whe went against Republican corruption and stood up for the bridge to nowhere thing. Biden seems seem to spout party line (sorry to Biden fans just how I see it).

Ethics: draw. Obama taking money from Chicago mobsters and the church that he went to erks me. McCain seems to go back and forth of some issues is a bother to me to. Obama still married to the same women gives him the even on this.

Biden and Palin. Draw. Biden with his family tragedy and Palin with her down syndrome child makes these VPs great people. Its a draw whith extreme for both of them.

In Touch with people. Palin beats them all. Daughter of teacher and secretary. (not degrading Obama background). Her and her husband did it all themselves. When Palin saw womething srong she worked hard and fixed it. Obama seems to have had an easy road. Don't believe me? The people that don't like her tell you what a great book she would it would be on her life.

Unions: Peopel don't like this one but is a big viting block. Obama. One reason mob ties.

Biden and Palin. Weird this one because of Dems being union supporters. Palin is a member of a union though. Still will go with biden but not by much.

Base support. Obama wins hands down. In the same way the extreme is misses the middle but energizes the base, Obamma is extreme far left. McCain is way away from the conservatives and has nearly lost 20 mil. votes.

Biden and Palin. Palin wins because she will pick up the 20 mil that McCain left behind.

This is getting long and will stop here with just one last thing. Palin will win the married women vote because that is what she is. The soccer mom thing is what elected former President Clinto so that is a big vote. Remeber that married aren't into to all the pro life stuff as the left would have you beleive. Clinton won that vote because of stability. Palin could do the same.

Will close here with this. I don't know what is going to happen but I do care. I will serve with all my heart whoever the people elect. But I right now have to give the edge to McCain and Palin. This is why (feel free to rip apart)

Palin gets McCain the conservative support. Biden moves Obama to the center a little. Palin has attraction to soccer moms and unions (whether they vote for her I don't know but its there). Oil is Palin's life blood from her govenorship of Alaska, yes Alaska. She is a mom with five kids and one with down syndrome. Gottat remember that makes her a hero on the lifetime channel. The Bridge to Nowhere thing means a lot and th fact that she gave tax money back to the people of Alaska becasue the stae didn't need it.

Palin probably is the best choice of McCain becaus she has a chance to be everythong that the other three are not.

This is a classic example of how not to think about politics. Compare all the candidates in purely personal terms without ever seriously discussing the implications of their policy differences. Simply assigning the terms left, right and center does not provide any basis for rational evaluation. No disrespect for the poster's service to our country is intended.
Very well done. Nice and

insightful analysis.
No, most voters are not policy

wonks or junkies. They vote on a more visceral level and ultimately select the president that currently resides in their personal comfort zone.

On Policies and so forth no one sane could possibly have picked G.W. bush over Al Gore or John Kerry. Ultimately, issues did not decide those elections, gut feelings made the difference and those are based on personal terms.

For instance, although a life long democrat I am so furious at the national press for its bias against Hillary Clinton and against the DNC for its bias against Hillary and at Obama for his refusal to select a woman for vp that I AM going to vote for McCain.

Now get this, I am going to vote for McCain even though after G.W. Bush and the fuck up he has made of our nation and a good piece of the rest of the world I swore that I would never vote for a republican for any office again for the rest of my life . . . and I MEANT that. So imaging how furious I am at the DNC to do this. That fury obviously is not based on policies and issues.

Thanks

I don't know what matters to the two of you (Demcon, and thessg), but what matters to me is the future of this country. I have a child that I love dearly and want her to grow up healty, in a country that allows her to become what ever she wants to be. Thessg (short for the Seargent?), you must care for this country or you would not have chosen to serve. Here is my challenge to both of you. Go to McCain and Obama's websites. Compare and contrast their policies. Which of the two do you think would move us toward a better future?

To chose a candidate based on identity politics or how the media treated them (or Hillary) is tragic and self-defeating.

Oh and Thessg- google "Keating 5" if you want a more balanced perspective of John McCain.

Demcon-If you want to select a candidate that respects women (especially Hillary), how do you reconcile voting for a man who once told the joke:

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? . . . Because Janet Reno is her father."

I guess the joke is on him now that Chelsea has grown into such a beautiful young woman.
