Support Hillary for What?
by EarlyBird

Being a Republican who can't wait to vote for Obama and against the GOP, for the first time in my life, it's a little weird over on this side of the fence.

The weirdest thing is this idea that there are still "Hillary supporters." There are still freaks running around the convention with Hillary pins and t-shirts, demanding that Hillary be given credit and approval for something, and bad blood because their candidate came in second after she ran a cynical, nasty, mean-spirited campaign against the guy who ultimately won despite her rottenness.

She was given credit and approval by a lot of Democrats. But not enough Democrats. She lost.

So, support Hillary for what exactly? Is she running on her own ticket now?

You know that guy who Michael Phelps beat out by one tiny fraction of a second in one of the races that gave him a gold medal? No, you don't. Because that guy lost, and Michael Phelps won.

Politics are even more brutal than that. The other guy at least got a silver. Hillary doesn't get anything. She is entitled to nothing. She has no more "rights" to anything than my cat.

There are going to be two names on the ballot that count for something this November:

__ Obama

__ McCain

You'll notice that Hillary is nowhere to be found on this ballot. Because she lost.

Now, you Hillary weirdos are going to have to decide if you'll then vote for McCain, or stay home and just give McCain the election. This would be antithetical to everything you claim to believe in politically, and would certainly put the lie to your claims that you're not just voting for Hillary because she's a chick.

to anything. Not even Obama who was given the nomination by the combined efforts of the national press and the corrupt DNC.

It's just politics baby and the PUMAs are a powerful political faction. There is an opening for PUMAs to torpedo the Obama campaign, and guess what? They are nine million strong and growing in numbers on a daily basis. So get used to the notion of President McCain.

Dear Sir,

Hmm, the reason you are voting for Obama is you are a Republican, but if a democrat votes for McCain they are not following their values?

Sorry you lost me on that one, that would seem something was missing.

God Bless You

Nobody "gave" Obama the nomation. The DNC is not corrupt. It's just politics baby, and Obama won.

WHY would the PUMAs torpedo Obama, when that means they will be handing the election to McCain, a nominee whose policies are supposedly the opposite of theirs? Just out of spit? Are they that sick?

You haven't answered that.

I am voting for Obama because my beloved GOP has gone off the rails and have nearly entirely turned their backs on their values. So I want to punish them.

So I suppose the Hillary nuts are so angry at Obama - for something - that they would rather vote against him and for McCain, or stay home and give McCain the election.

That shows a bizarre lack of political maturity. Talk about being ridiculous. Obama won the nomination fair and square. Hillary, after running a sleazy, nasty, mean, underhanded and disorganized campaign, lost to a supposed neophyte.

These freaks can't handle reality, that's all. The only silver lining of a McCain win will be to see how thoroughly ruined the Clintons' legacy will be. It would clearly be a matter of their slime machine having gone too far.

Funny stuff.

I just don't get this. I'm female and a Democrat. I supported Hillary in the primaries, because she seemed really "on it." I had different views of the other candidates, but liked her best. (And I don't like Oprah.)

But she didn't win. Bummer. And Obama did. So, BEING A DEMOCRAT who supports the platform issues that BOTH Hillary and Obama support, I am going to support the candidate that is running in the general election that supports my views on the issues. I am not going to vote for McCain as a "screw you" because my candidate lost in the primary. I am going to support the person who has the closest positions to what I believe in.

I just don't understand why this is a difficult question, and I don't get the "bitter." Why would anyone let a grudge dictate who they vote for in the general election? If you supported Hillary's ideas in the primary, why wouldn't you support the person whose ideas are closest to hers in the general?

If you don't 'get it' but you

want to understand then I suggest that you cease being intellectually lazy and do a bit of unbiased reasearch on the PUMA phenomenon.

Until you actually invest some honest effort you will remain essentially clueless.

I've been reading, and I still don't get it.

I don't understand the "cut off the nose to spite the face" decision. Certainly, if people think the primary process was unfair, work to change how they are handled in the future. But is having another Republican in office for the next 4 or 8 years worth the point people are trying to make? That "message" has a lot of costs attached to it. I wish Obama was more progressive and I'm not a fan of his actions this summer on FISA, but he's so much better than McCain would be from a practical point of view. Just the thought of who McCain would put on the Supreme Court alone gives me the willies.

It's Veiled Racism
by ddave

PUMA my ass.

The so-called Hillary supporters are either nonexistent, or are totally hypocritical. Their reason for not supporting Obama is nothing other than pure racism.

If you read them well you'll realize that it's more than just a support for Hillary. They seem to hate Obama with strong passion. And this guy has done nothing other than win the primary. Not a single one of them can point to one thing Obama has done to provoke their hatred so much.

Many other contestants lost. Joe Biden, John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, etc, etc all lost. But they have all returned to the democratic fold, and are moving on.

And Obama has really tried to work with the Clintons. He gave them 2 nights out of 4. He has treated them with deference. But no. Hillary's supporters want blood.

All it means is that Obama's camp needs to work a little harder to win the general elections without them. I hope many of these PUMAs are in the solid democratic states anyway. Then Obama should be able to win those states without them. So much for PUMA.

Whatever happens, we'll be waiting for Hillary in 2016. It will be her turn to tell us why we should support her.

Once again, explain it to me, so if I don't support your candidate and he happens to be black I am a racist? What a freakin joke....do you not have any other arguments than what the media feeds you? Get a freaking clue idiot
Re: It's just politics baby and Obama

Demcon is a Republican and always has been, and would rather die than support either Hillary or Obama. He's just pretending to be a former Hillary supporter. Super see-through costume. So live with it.
Re: If you don't 'get it' but you
by EarlyBird

Ado, this Demcon is an idiot who is pretending that he is a bitter Hillary supporter. He's in fact a hardcore Republican who has never had any intention of supporting anyone but the Republican candidate. So just don't engage in any kind of posts with him any more. "PUMA phenomena." Oh brother.

I also don't think it was the female, Democratic, former Hillary supporters like yourself that Obama needs to worry about. He'll get those votes. As you stated, you ultimately vote on the issues.

It is the former Hillary supporters in the Rust Belt and Appalachia that Obama now has to worry about. They were responding to her being the idea of some past romanticized America where guys who go from high school straight into the local factory, pay their union dues and make a good living with one salary and retire comfortably. That doesn't exist. They see Hillary as FDR or something. Doesn't exist.

They don't see what they want to see in Obama. That's the danger in that region.

Dear Sir,

You are making my point for me, the reason the Republicans became so corrupt was they could, they controlled both the Congress and the Presidency. Congress is always were the largest amount of corruption will occur, they can place into any bill just about anything they want.

And to bribe them is crazy cheap, like 10K gets you 100M in contracts, so why not, and as everybody has to work with everybody else, you need votes to get your ‘ideas’ into bills so everybody does it.

Look friends we vote lawyers into office, they are the only people specifically trained to take the facts of any issue, and distort it to prove their points. A good lawyer does not get an innocent person off, he gets a guilty one off. A good prosecutor does not convict a guilty man, he convicts an innocent one. A good tax lawyer cheats the system and does not get caught.

So when we elected people that lie, cheat and steal, do not say you did not know what was going to happen.

So the best government is a weak government that cheats, and steals from each other, and not from us.

Grin and bear it, and Vote McCain in 2008, it is the vote that keeps you free, and allows Nancy and her friends somebody to mess with besides us.

God Bless You
