women who lead vs. women who gain power through marriage

P.S. Palin is not only against abortion, she is also against the use of contraceptives like birth-control pills, IUDs, depo, female diaphragms. All methods that have given women the freedom to work in male-dominated fields and plan for their pregnancies based on their income, family situation, and ability to stay-home with their children as needed.
Forgot to add I do agree with you regarding Palin being elected based on her OWN resume instead of her husbands. The two schools of female leaders are those who claim to the top based on their own efforts (Pelosi, Margaret Thatcher, Angela Merkel, Golda Meir of Israel etc.) vs. those who inherit the position based on family member (Benazir Bhutto, Queens of England, Indira Gandhi).
If Bill was dead, the support in Hillary Clinton would have been the same as support for Elizabeth Dole. Senator Clinton never showed a resume of elected positions apart from the senate.
The release of the White House archives proven that after the Health care disaster, all her duties were related to regular 1st Lady hosting duties. Her claim of being involved with international policies such as in Ireland and the Middle East have been proven false. Additionally if she had been so involved in policy during her husbands term in office, she would be smart enough to know that her Iraq vote gave Bush the power to invade Iraq. I am willing to bet even the apolitical Laura Bush could have seen that coming a mile away.
Pelosi gave birth and raised 5 children in additional to working her way up to being 2 heart beats away from the presidency. She had to deal with much, much worse sexism during her local and national campaigns. (Memoir: Know your Power). The worse thing about the Clinton Campaign is how much her supporters have bashed Pelosi-a woman who should be the feminist model.
I just couldn't support Clinton with such heroes as Golda and Merkel. The most recent Biographer for Golda (great book) was interviewed by NPR. She said that Golda always wanted to be treated as a person not a gender. She refused to support the feminist movement and hated female leaders like Clinton.
