Unlike Hillary, Paulin got there on her own merits...
by widowson

....not via a political marriage.

Isn't that more "feminist"? A woman who succeedes on her own merits, hard work, and drive rather than the last name of the guy she married.

Dem, I appreciate your fire, but such comments really deserve no reply---it is a mere attempt to flame.

No one, anywhere can claim that Palin is where she is today (the Repub. VP slot) due to merits. It's a joke.

Most people know that HRC had quite a successful career on her own before Bill become governor of Arkansas, then President; was very active during her husband's terms (there used to be bumper stickers that said "impeach Clinton and her husband too"--how soon people forget); has had a successful Senate stint; and had one of the most amazing primary seasons in the history of this country, coming in a very, very, very close second.

In other words, no comparison at all between Palin and Clinton. But you already knew that.

Here is something quite hilarious, as an aside. I just read that in Palin's second public appearance as the VP nominee, she gave a shoot out to HRC and was booed by the Republican crowd. Oops--they forget they were trying to woo those voters.

What office did Hillary hold before running for Senate?

What were her credentials/leadership positions?

Yes, of course, Palin has achieved her position by her own merits. Sad to say, it's in a country that has rejected the process of maturation since Lincoln, which makes her method of career path uninteresting and a quite small topic. Try another topic, please; Perhaps something like why the people of the U.S. haven't managed to get beyond their crippled self-image, which has severely limited their potential to have real grace and significance beyond the size of their wallets and purity of their absolutist racial/religious tribes. Northern-european tribes have conquered a continent; they magically decimated the natives with smallpox and enslaved another race; hard not to see yourselves as gods, no? In today's world, that makes you a clown. Your self-image is caught in a sling. No way out. You will have to die off before your self-image changes. Must retain pride, you know.

Palin was the mayor of the bustling metropolis of Wasilla for 6 years. She was appointed to a couple of other jobs. She has been the governor of Alaska for a year and 8 months....

When you say that she got "there"....where, exactly, do you think she has gotten to? She certainly isn't prepared to be president.

I find this unfortunate.

The tearing down of one candidate in order to elevate the other. Such is the state of the discourse in this nation, today.

I'd say both women are pretty accomplished. The only question would be, with which you agree on issues. But, just because you don't agree with someone on issues, it's really not a reason to try to tear him or her down. It really doesn't do your candidate any good either, because it makes it look like they have nothing good for you to boast about, so you have to get nasty on the other one.

Anyway, I'm just sayin' . . . . .

Thanks for pointing that out! Brilliant contrast -- a true "feminist" is someone who pulls herself up by her own bootstraps, not someone who rides her man's coattails.

Brother --

You are supporting someone who is antithetical to separation of church and state. Antithetical. By your name, I take it you know what that means, brother.
