Can ANYONE make sense of this line?

I believe its referring to McCains stupidity! He does not have to go to hell and get Bin Laden if he is in a cave like Republicans have said he is in Pakistan! Makes sense to me!t seemed

Glad to see someone else caught O in another idiotic statement.

Of course, on his many trips to this area of Pakistan/Afghanistan, he's figured out exactly which of the thousands of caves OBL is living in. All one must do is send a squad up the escalator right to his door.

I wonder if that will be before or after he invades Pakistan.

This is a very obscure point to be referencing so passively, but maybe this is it. I'm surprised Slate missed it in the annotated article.

I guess you don't remember the news footage from late 1991 and most of 1992 which seemed to indicate that Osama had taken refuge in the mountains near Tora Bora in Afghanistan, and it was reported that he and his Al-Qaeda followers were hiding out in the caves there, and that they were accustomed to doing this.

Where Osama is today is anyone's guess, but Pakistan is the logical place to start. After all, how hard can it be to find a 6'5" Saudi with a dialysis machine attached to him?

The right made a very big deal out of Obama's statement that he was willing to go into Pakistan after bin Laden and without Musharafs [sp?] permission. They spent several weeks in the primary trying to pretend that this meant Obama wanted to invade Pakistan.

Pardon MY limited brain power but can you please explain that? Obama says he is willing to order military forces to enter a country without the permission of the sitting government.

How does that not constitute an invasion?

Since you can't figure out the difference for yourself, I'll try. Let me know if I used small enough words for you to understand.

An invasion would entail sending large forces of ground troops to occupy the country and conquer territory. Obama was discussing the possibility of sending in a limited number of special forces with only the mission of capturing or killing bin Laden. He had no intent of engaging Pakistani forces or "liberating" Islamabad.

They have these wonderful books called dictionaries. Wonderful things really, you should learn how to use them.

A more astute politician would have known how to phrase what he meant in such a way as to sidestep this criticism. So it's easy for me to see how someone would hear what is said one way, and another person hear the same thing another way.
