No Mention of Gross Immorality of Overpopulation
by shanmarq
In all this discussion on abortion, there is never any mention of the gross immorality of overpopulation. Environmental scientist say the earth can hold no more than 3 billion people and yet we are approaching 7 billion. We are very close to massive ecological collapse due to overpopulation and the resulting collapse could cause the extinction of most life forms, including humans. Pardon me, but the lives of human beings on the surface of this planet must take priority over a souless, fertilized egg!!!

Gross immorality on whose part? Should we consider having more than a certain number of children to be an unethical act?

Perhaps the scientists you are referencing are wrong?

But, for the sake of argument, if it's actually a crisis which 4 billion do you advocate getting rid of?

If you wish to protect your American Environment stop immigration and deport foreigners. 70% of America's population increase since 1965 is the result of forigners and the children born to them here.

Educate yourself, America and lets runout the foreigners.

Bushis importing a million Iraqis a year ito our country. Over five million Jihadder State Moslems have come to America since 9-11. Most haven't left.

By watching the way it was done in India --- yes, by raising awareness of the pressures of overpopulation, and by urging families to not be 'greedy' and take more than their fair share of limited social resources by having too many children --- I think it IS quite possible to have a society where people think having more than a certain # of children is somewhat unethical, and basically being a resource hog.

On the other hand, India didn't start doing that till its population DENSITY was far higher than USA's is today. I drove from upstate New York to Birmingham earlier this summer -- and just driving through all that empty green space made me realize quite clearly why 'overpopulation' remains such a strange concept to americans. Population density here is so much less even that Europe.

Everyone needs to visit India once (or better still, Bangladesh), to see WHAT 'overpopulation' can really look like!

If the planet can only hold 3 billion people, how in the heck did we get this far?

That's a real head-scratcher, isn't it?

I don't worry about overpopulation too much. Nature will sort itself out. We can't kill the earth; we can only make it less hospitable for the creatures (including ourselves) currently residing on it. Life will go on.

Not necessarily human life, but we've no one to blame for that but ourselves.

Remember "War Games"? "The earth will start over when we're gone--maybe with the bees..."

The children born to foreigners here...

...are Americans, however. Are you suggesting we deport the parents, and dedicate financial resources to raisning the children as wards of the state?

I certainly wouldn't go that far, but why shouldn't we reconsider the law that makes the children of illegal immigrants American citizens (note that I'm not including the children of legal immigrants - that's another question entirely) and deport the entire family?

It has been said, that if all children born into this world were truly wanted there would be no over population. I think that some children should be shared, if children born into, not so good (shall we say) homes, where they are loved but emotionly/financialy or other wise do not have all one would desire for a young person to grow, why not share? We are so precious about our 'blood' though we spill enough of the stuff. Sharing is not so easy for us westerners isit? :-)

How about you do your share & become one less person in the world.
