Family Values
by agdatty
This may be grossly politically incorrect but what about Palin's baby? She says she is all about family values, really wanted this child, etc., so why is she running for vice president? Doesn't a baby, any baby but especially one with facing lifelong challenges, need his mother? I can only imagine the outcry of conservatives if the Democrats nominated a woman with a 4 month old baby.
I can only imagine the outrage

of feminists if clueless Obamacrats CONTINUE to push the line that a mother must stay at home after giving childbirth. As the governor of a bloody damn state I am certain that she can afford to have live in nurses give her baby the best medical care available.

This anti-feminist bigotry of Obama supporters IS going to backfire on THEIR candidate for president. So just keep blindly pushing on these issues without thinking about them first.

Get over yourself Demcon. The point of the previous poster is that if the Dems had dared put up a vp who had an infant, the conservatives would be all over it with the usual remarks: "elitist who would rather have a nanny raise her child", "out of touch with middle America who can't afford a nanny", "no family values", "the sky is falling", etc. etc. etc.

Anti- feminist bigotry? The Republicans have that one all covered, thank you very much.

The republicans are running

a woman for Vice President. The democratic leadership decided that there was not one single qualified woman available in the entire nation to run as vice president. It's fairly apparent which party thinks what now about women.

The Obama fanatics striking at Palin with misogynistic attacks are DOING the republican's work for them, that of BRINGING women into the Republican Party.

So if that's what you want than continue with the misogyny

Or at least democrats used to try to argue that republicans had that one covered...

I love how all of you neocon men now suddenly speak for ME. I'm sick of this faux conservative outrage regarding women and women's rights. Don't be fooled. The majority of women see past this trick...we know when we are being played by a band of men simply using us when needed to try to stay in power. No way am I voting for McCain simply because he is suddenly the ticket with the ovaries on it. Palin's views represent everything I stand against, from the government getting involved in my body, to the government getting involved in my children's science education. Palin is the anti-Hillary. This Palin choice simply reinforces the anti-feminism of the Republican party - the thought that any woman would do....no matter how grossly unqualified.
But you do not speak for all

women, by any means, nor all feminists for that matter. If you think that feminists are monolithic in their ideology then you were not paying attention during the Hillary/Obama nomination contest nor even to what the Slate XX-Factor authors were writing.

Yes, many, many feminists ARE going to abandon the Democratic Party that has so firmly demonstrated its political contempt for them. Enjoy.

I call BS on that particular right wing talking point. Enjoy.

Actually, if you think that there are NOT women who will vote to break the glass ceiling regardless of who is actually doing it you're fooling yourself. Granted, exactly how many that might be is a good question, but there's bound to be some. Identity politics DO exist, regardless of their rationality as a basis for a voting choice.

The one thing I am amused at in the Fray is just how many people assume that their pet set of issues is somehow what determines voting choice.
